Moriah does a great job caring for all of the patients who come through our doors, and one of the things we appreciate most about her is her genuine excitement for learning and seeing new things. 🐱 It's been a busy week in our Cat Ward at Family Animal Care! 🐱

At one point this week, every suite in our cat room was full—and we even had a special visitor staying comfortably in our isolation room. ❤️

No two weeks are ever the same in veterinary medicine. Some days are quiet, and other days every kennel is spoken for! We're thankful to have a facility that allows us to care for so many feline friends when they need us most.

Whether it's a routine procedure, medical treatment, or a little extra TLC, we're grateful for the opportunity to care for your pets like they're our own.

Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members! 🐾💙

🐾🌟 It's Fair Week in Sioux County! 🌟🐾

The Sioux County Youth Fair is winding down, and we want to give a special shout-out to our very own Dr. Ashley Hoogland, who had the honor of serving as a judge for both the 4-H Pet Show and the Clover Kids Pet Show this week! 🐶🐰🐐

We absolutely love seeing so many young people develop a passion for animals. The dedication, responsibility, and countless hours these kids have invested in caring for and preparing their pets is truly inspiring. Their hard work and love for their animals were on full display, and we couldn't be prouder of all they have accomplished!

The fair wraps up Friday afternoon, so if you haven't made it out yet, be sure to stop by and check out the incredible projects, exhibits, and animals these talented young people have worked so hard to prepare. Supporting our local youth is one of the best parts of living in this community. ❤️

Meet Moose, who spent some time with us today for an ultrasound. While he was given a little medication to help him relax during his imaging session, he wasn't fully asleep—and we think his goofy grin says it all! ❤️

One of the best things about ultrasound imaging is that it's non-invasive, pain-free, and incredibly safe. It allows us to get a detailed look inside your pet without surgery, helping us diagnose problems quickly and accurately.

Family Animal Care now offers in-house abdominal ultrasounds and echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds)?

Our ultrasounds and echocardiograms are reviewed by board-certified specialists, providing expert interpretation while allowing your pet to receive advanced care close to home.

Ultrasounds and echocardiograms can help us diagnose many conditions, including:

☀️🐾 Summer Heat Can Be Dangerous for Pets! 🐾☀️

As temperatures climb, it's important to remember that our pets can overheat much faster than we do. A few simple precautions can make all the difference in keeping them safe and comfortable this summer.

💧 Keep plenty of fresh, cool water available.
🌳 Make sure your pet always has access to shade.
🚫 Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.
🐕 Walk your dog during the cooler morning or evening hours.
🐾 Check the pavement with the back of your hand before heading out. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive panting
• Heavy drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Collapse or difficulty standing

If you think your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Stay safe and aware during this heatwave.
