There is an unknown respiratory illness I dogs that has been moving around the country. A few suspect cases have been seen in Iowa.

For your dogs' safety, please keep them up to date on their vaccines. Especially their distemper (DHPP) and bordetella vaccines as these help prevent common respiratory illnesses. Limit contact with other dogs by not going to the dog park, groomers or pet stores with your dog for now. If you pet shows sick of respiratory illness, please schedule an appointment as soon as you can.

Respiratory signs in dogs are: coughing, sneezing, runny nose, tiredness, rapid or labored breathing.

Did you know we offer cold laser therapy! This therapy uses light to assist in pain management and healing. Cold laser therapy reduces inflammation, which causes pain, and stimulates nerve cells to limit their transmissions due to pain. We can use this therapy for healing after an injury, ear infections, skin infections, arthritis, especially in patients that can't be medically managed due to other health concerns, and many more conditions. If you are interested in learning more, we would be glad to talk with you about cold laser therapy for your pet!

Our Mission

The staff of 24th Street Animal Clinic has been working to keep your pets healthy and happy ever since the clinic was founded by Dr. Kerry Dobson. Our mission is to provide you and your pets with service of the highest quality, keeping your companions healthy and giving you peace of mind.

Our practice is oriented toward general medicine, surgery and dentistry. We have included additional services to better serve our clientele, including ultrasound procedures, laser surgery for tumor removal, cold (therapeutic) laser therapy, and acupuncture therapy. Thyroidectomy, declawing and other services are also available.

We believe that through communicating with you, the pet owner, that we can both work together to give your pet a happy and healthy home environment. Pets are an important part of all our lives, and we want nothing more than to ensure that your friends remain with you for a long, long time.
