Our Story

BHJ was founded in 1969 with the primary objective of collecting and processing by-product from Danish slaughterhouses for pet food and pharmaceuticals. During the 1970โ€™s, BHJ expanded into meat trading activities, manufacturing of functional animal proteins for food, processing lines for the meat processing industry, and transport services. Internationalization set in during the 1980โ€™s with the establishment of subsidiaries and an international network of distributions. BHJ now has locations in Denmark, England, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Sweden, China, Canada and the US.

BHJ was first established in the USA in 2000. Since then we have grown from 22 to 350 employees in Omaha, Ne- Fort Dodge, IA- St. Joseph, MO-Logansport, IN - Fresno, CA and Vernon,CA.

It is our goal to be the Preferred Strategic Partner of our suppliers and customers, and it is important that we continue being flexible and service minded with a strong focus on quality in everything we do. We have many outstanding employees and have a good platform for continued growth of our business.
