Your trophy is my trophy…

One more for good measure. What a stud.

All these tiny bones, baby teeth, doesn’t matter with beetles - fragility is their forte.

The beetles work best in the dark..so efficient, yet they treat your trophy delicately!

“Tonight’s the night…” 😆

Less than two weeks before we all start our 9 month pre-season scouting 🦌 🏹 😁

If you’ve got a whitetail hanging out in the freezer give me a call or send me message.

Never boiled, never scraped.

Congratulations to the tag holder on his first buck, a mentored youth hunter, age 6!

Honored to make it a forever physical memory.

Now off to the 🪲 🪲 🪲

I treat every trophy as if I’m the tag holder.

This buck is off to the beetle tank. 🪲

There’s still time! Good luck everyone!

I hope everyone is having a safe and fantastic second “limited firearm season”, in the hybrid muzzleloader for Zone 3 in lower Michigan (3-12 Dec).

Wanted to use this post to show how a whitetail should be delivered, and provide a little insight to my process. What you see in the video is great example. The tag holder brought this deer in as shown as a fresh harvest, tagged and ready to be processed.

Most butchers understand and will give your trophy back to you just like this when you tell them you plan to European mount the animal.

Ensure the animal is tagged in accordance with state law - Reference the top of page 32 in the MIDNR hunting digest before going afield.

**Warning**

If you’re not a fan of bugs, do not read the comments.

Why are dermestid beetles the best choice for skull cleaning? One reason is they do not discolor the skull.

Their job is to remove all flesh from the skull. This includes any fat, meat, hair, and muscle. Once the beetles finish their job, you are left with the most natural-looking skull to use for your European mount.

The pictured skull is that of a Michigan 8 point, with two acorns at the ends of the main beams. See the comments for progression videos.
