Let’s talk about Myla!

This sweet lady was deposited at the shelter after making a mistake that a lot of dogs make when housed with children and given no proper guidance on how to coexist with those children safely. She was devastated and wanted nothing to do with shelter staff at first. I’ve had the privilege of befriending this sweet girl and she has quickly became a favorite.

Myla is a 4.5 year old diva hippo as you can see. She is also very treat motivated and LOVES a good game of tug. We must not forget how much she loves a good swim too!! She would definitely make a great family dog and loyal companion. Trainable girl. The shelter is looking for a home for her without young children.

“Should my dog go for more walks?”

Yes! They should!!

There are so many benefits to getting your dog outside often, for you and your dog!! From physical, mental/emotional, behavioral, social, to relationship benefits, and more!

Walks can be for exercise, training, sniffing (I call these Sniffaris 😆), bonding, management, adventures, etc. you don’t always have to have your dog in the heel position right at your side, leash tense often. This isn’t fun for either party for extended periods of time. Let them sniff!!!

Did you know dogs should get out and get at least 20-30 minutes of sunlight early in the day just like humans? This helps with vitamin D synthesis, can boost mood, can support joint health, and promotes a healthy routine/circadian rhythm. It’s preferred to do this before 11am or during other times when UV levels are low, minimizing risk of skin/eye damage and immune suppression.

Get those dogs out and about! If you need any help with that, I offer dog walking, training, and house visits! With 10+ years experience in animal behavior especially canine and animal care, I can be your dogs new friend and also help you build a more knowledgeable and understanding relationship with them!
