I'm thinking it's going to be easiest for me to work afternoons few afternoons for awhile. I'll go do breakfast and lunch with Will. And hopefully, his PT between those times so I can give them a hand. Then I'll come to work and groom a few.
I'm going to be in on Monday at 1:30 for a few hours. If you want to stop in for a nail clip, I'd say between 1:30 and 3 to be safe but if my car is still there after, feel free to stop in. I want to get my pets that had appointments scheduled while I was out, in first. So, if you had an appointment and haven't had them done elsewhere, send me a message. Monday when I get to my book I'll reach out and we can figure out a time.
Also, for my Cat clients. Friday afternoon I'm going to do a cats only day. So, if you'd like to get your cat done on Friday, also send me a message. They'll be shaves only. I'll book them every 20 minutes until my afternoon is full. If they need a bath, I'll do it but I won't have time to dry them. If you think there's a chance, bring a clean, dry towel to put in their kennel after.

If everyone who says they're coming for a nail clip today shows up, it's going to be busy. 😀
If when you get there, if there's another pet in my shop please wait until they exit my shop to bring your's in. It's a small area and not all dogs like eachother.

I'm spending this week trying to wean myself and Will from always being together. I'm still there if they need me but trying not to hover as much as usual. I trust them and they're wonderful but Will is a little like work! I think he forgets he can't move like he used to and tries to stand and get out of bed without help or saying anything. I almost feel bad for them!
I will be in the shop Saturday (I know, holiday weekend) if you're around and need a nail clip. You can stop in between 9:30 and 12. While I'm there I'm going to figure out what hours I can be there next week and I'll post to let everyone know.

I wish I could share more details of my son's progress. I'm not going to share where he is because he was the victim of an assault. We know by who, it's just a matter of them finding and arresting him. Some day, hopefully soon, I'll be able to tell the whole story.
Now the good stuff I can share! He's gained back about 15 lbs. Only another 50 or so to go. He's getting stronger, back to acting like the stubborn, independent, "I'll do it my way" child I raised. He can't walk yet but has managed to climb out of his bed twice, ending up on the floor. Thankfully, we lower his bed to about 6 inches off the floor.
The staff is wonderful! Amazing, caring, hardworking people but they can't have their eyes on everyone all the time and they can't be in 2 rooms at once. His father and I take turns and manage to cover his care the majority of the time. I can't have him waiting to get cleaned and fed. He doesn't talk a lot but when he does, most of it is easy to understand. He still has his great sense of humor and keeps everyone laughing. He eats everything in sight and has been pretty spoiled, getting whatever he wants. I laughed because PT is bribing him with Reese's peanut butter cups to do stuff.... they're treat training my kid. LOL.
We've only been here a few days, the changes from having real therapies has been huge.
Thank you all for the patience. I really am coming back at some point.

First.... Thank you Amy for setting up a gofundme to cover my shop expenses while I've been out. And thank you to all who have donated to it. I really, really appreciate it! It has eased the stress of being out for so long. Thank you so much!!!

Next... The hospital and rehab have done their part but for some reason there's another company that has to determine if he requires "nursing home" level care. They finally called this morning and said of course he is but they still need to do it. She said she was going to get it done this morning but I haven't heard anything since. They've been holding his bed for a week waiting for all this to get done. I'm not a patient person. If they have a job to do, they should get it done. It's getting old and there's nothing I can do to speed it up. Grrr
Good news, they did another CT scan of his head to look at the strokes, fluid and brain mass atrophy. The fluid has decreased and his brain has expanded back to almost normal size. The doctor didn't expect that to happen. He's kind of a miracle. ❤️ This gives him a better chance for a full recovery. After 5 weeks in bed he's lost most of his muscle. It'll be a lot of work to build those back up and relearn how to use them. I can't wait for him to get to rehab and start working on that.
I know I keep saying I'll be back soon... as soon as I can. I miss it!

I've been asked by a few clients if I mind if they have someone else do their pet's grooming while I'm out. I don't. I won't be offended or upset.

Now for my latest update... He's still in the hospital. He is doing well enough to be transferred to a rehab soon. Which will be great because he's had one visit from OT/PT in last week. 15 minutes a week isn't going to help him recover. Most of the staff is great but busy. He still isn't able to communicate his wants and needs. So, without someone there to advocate for him and track down his meals, he'd lay there hungry or thirsty until someone found the time. I'm not ok with that. Praying when he gets into rehab I won't feel as anxious about his father or I not being there. They have a bed ready at the rehab. Now, it's just waiting for all the paper work to go through and get him transfered. Hopefully, they don't take too long. He's lost all his muscles just laying in bed for the past month.
Because a friend says she wants to hear the good stuff. He does talk very quietly once in awhile, when he wants to. He tells me he loves me, gives kisses and one armed hugs. Will be polite and say "yes, please" to staff he likes. Throw out the "F-bomb" if they do things that hurt. He'll smile and give some flirty looks if he sees a cute nurse. I think he'll thrive once he starts gettng physical, occupational and speech therapy. It's going to be a long hard road but he's a tough guy.

Update time again.....
It's been 20 days since I worked. It feels like a year! Hopefully, next week I'll be able to come back. I'm not sure what that will look like yet. I'm going to have to split days at the hospital with my ex-husband. I don't want Will left without one of us there often, he still doesn't have the ability to express his needs and wants. A week ago he was trying to talk, now he's not. He's supposed to have another MRI soon to make sure he hasn't had anymore strokes. If he hasn't, he'll keep getting stronger and those abilities should return in time. If he has, then they'll have to do a bunch more testing and checkout the backside of his heart to see if clots are coming from there.
We've had lots of little wins that will eventually turn into something huge. It'll be a long road to recovery but he's only 27 and tough as nails.

Update...
Everytime things start looking up and I feel ready to share, something else happens. Will was extubated 2 days ago. He seemed to be holding his own. We were trying to figure out what was being caused by delirium and what was the result of the mini strokes (we think either happened from the process of intubation/extubation or during CPR when he coded) Today, they think his body is too tired and weak for his lungs to work properly. They've put him on a cpap and if that isn't enough help for him, they have to put in a trachea ventilator.
Once I know he's out of the woods, I'll be back to work but until then I can't be anywhere but here.

I put a post out on our Maine groomers group, just in case anyone feels they can't or would rather not wait until I get ...

I put a post out on our Maine groomers group, just in case anyone feels they can't or would rather not wait until I get back. I know it's hard with unknown of when I'll be back. If any others post info that they have availability, I'll share their info.

Sorry, I haven't updated. It's been a crazy, emotional, long week. My son is still in the ICU. Still on a ventilator. They're hoping in the next few days they'll be able to take it out. He's been on the ventilator, off it and then back on. They've medically paralyzed him to try and keep his respiratory rates under control. Now we need to get him to wake up. Things are looking better now 🙏 but, I'm expecting at least an other week of being here.
