About 2 weeks ago I shaved my cat Roadie for the first time. I tell people when I shave their cats it takes a few weeks for them to grow out enough so it's cute and fuzzy. He is now. 😀
I shave cats for a few different reasons. Some are matted, some throw up a lot of hairballs, some to help with their owner's allergies and some just because the owners are sick of hair everywhere.
This is mostly for those that mat. When they start to mat is the time to come see me. Mats will not resolve themselves. It pulls and is uncomfortable even to shave them off. If they get to the point where I feel I can't do it safely or it will be too uncomfortable for them, I will refuse to do it and recommend you take them to a vet to have them sedated and shaved. I charge $45 to shave a cat (a little more if I give them a bath too) a vet is going to be A LOT more.
If you have a cat that has mats and it's never been shaved. It's not as bad as you think. I get the hair off quickly and as stress-free as possible. It usually takes about 15 minutes and I prefer owners stay so if the cat is stressed the owners and help make them feel more comfortable (or help me keep them on the table if needed) don't wait until it's so bad you end up with a big veterinarian bill.

This is probably the most accurate video of grooming. Most videos are to the extreme of dogs who sit perfectly still or hates being groomed and acting up. Most pets are really good, they're just moving targets.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! I'm taking it off too. 😀 Next week I'm working Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Tuesday is all booked up. I have a few openings on Friday and Saturday. Finally had time to shave my own critters. And my son who we thought we were going to lose this time last year came to help with Roadie.

Ticks! Ticks! Ticks! They're out in full force. So far I've bathed 4 dogs this morning and picked ticks off 2 of them.

I'm sharing this as a reminder. It's been my pricing for over 2 years. The more time it takes me to groom your dog, the more I charge. February 23rd was 8 weeks ago. So, if your dog was last groomed before that, it will be the increased price. If it's matted and takes even more time than it should, there will be a price increase. It's pretty easy to keep track, if I called you to tell you your pet was done on your cell phone (99% of the time), you can do a search for my number and it will tell you the date. Try to stay within the 8 weeks. It's much easier on your pet to get groomed before matting starts.

Next week I'll be in the shop Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Monday is booked solid. Tuesday and Friday I could squeeze in a small dog or cat and Saturday I have a couple openings. Nail clips, same as usual, just stop in between 9:30 and 12. I've been a little hard to catch this week. There were lots of Doctors appointments. I will be in the shop Tomorrow, Monday, Thursday and again next Saturday. Then I should have 2 weeks without any doctors appointments for either of my sons. 😀 The first week and a half in May there's a few more but it should slow down after that.
