We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of our dear friend, K9 Bragi . 🐾🌈 Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.

K9 Bragi EOW 7/23/25

Our hearts are beyond broken to announce the sudden passing of K9 Bragi after an extremely short battle with cancer.

While awaiting the results of his biopsy, he appeared to be recovering so well, but just 5 days later, his demeanor had changed & knew something wasn't right. We took him to the ER, after some further testing, it was confirmed that his liver was eaten up with cancer. Due to the extremely aggressive type of cancer & his poor prognosis, We made the difficult decision to allow Bragi to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

We know how much he was loved by so many around the world, We know he will leave a lasting impression, but I assure you, His legacy will live on.

A Memorial service is planned for 8/23/25 @ 1300 at Williamsburg High School. All is welcomed to come, as it is open to the public. K9 Officers & their partners are encouraged to participate. More details to come.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, we are asking for donations to be made to Williamsburg Police Association as " In memory of K9 Bragi" Via check or Venmo. ( 107 West Main St. Williamsburg OH 45176)

Lastly, we ask you give us our time & privacy to grieve & learn how to navigate this next chapter without Bragi, as the last 9 years, 10 months & 17 days was centered around him.

Established in 2017 and nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Carolina Canine Academy LLC hosts the largest training area in the Upstate of South Carolina. We are an approved certification entity and vendor through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as well as a veteran owned and operated business. For years we have provided canines to local, state, and federal agencies. CCAK9 hosts numerous federal IDIQs providing canines to the DOD, TSA, ATF, USDA, and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

The Maryland Police K9 Foundation is a Chesapeake Charities component fund,  a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We exist to help active and retired K9 units across Maryland by providing lifesaving equipment, care, and training. We strive to memorialize those K9s who make the ultimate sacrifice. We also seek to train and educate our communities on the importance of the K9 unit.
