Overgrown nails do more than look bad.

When a dog's nails are too long, they can't put their paw down flat. So they start compensating — shifting weight, walking off-balance, putting stress on joints that weren't designed to absorb it that way. Over time, that adds up.

We see it regularly. Dog comes in walking slightly off. Nails get trimmed. They leave differently than they walked in.

Earth Day is coming up, and here's something worth thinking about for pet owners.

Whatever goes in the water or on your lawn can end up in your dog's coat. Whatever product is used to bathe them gets absorbed into their skin. Most people don't think about this until their dog has an irritation or reaction.

We only use pet-safe products here. Nothing harsh. Nothing that's going to bother your dog's skin or coat, especially the ones that are already sensitive.

If your dog has had reactions to grooming products before, or if you've never really thought about what's in your current routine — worth a conversation. Call us.

Something people don't realize about grooming — it's physical work. Eight hours on your feet, bending over tables, holding dogs steady, using your hands nonstop.

After 10 years of doing this I've got the wrist pain and the back to prove it. But I still get excited when a nervous dog finally relaxes on my table for the first time. That never gets old.

This isn't a job you do for the money. You do it because you actually like animals and you're good with your hands. Everything else is just the stuff you put up with because the work matters to you.

Every pet that comes through this door gets my full attention. That's been the standard since day one and it's not changing.

I am not just a Groomer:

Something we hear every week: "I didn't know anyone around here groomed cats."

We do. And honestly, we love it. Cats are a completely different challenge from dogs. They're particular, they have opinions, and they'll let you know exactly how they feel about bath time 🐱

Spring coat care PSA for Cleveland dog owners:

Your dog's winter undercoat is starting to blow right now. If you've got a double-coated breed — huskies, labs, goldens, shepherds, corgis — you already know. The fur is everywhere.

Here's the thing though. Shaving a double coat isn't the answer. It can actually mess up how their coat grows back and affect how they regulate their temperature.

What works is a proper deshed treatment. We work through the undercoat, get all that loose fur out, and your dog's coat can actually breathe again. They're more comfortable and your house is way less furry.

We've been doing a lot of these the past couple weeks. If your dog is due, don't wait too long — April and May are our busiest months.

People ask us all the time what a grooming appointment actually looks like. So here's a peek.

Your dog comes in, we give them a few minutes to sniff around and settle in. Then it's a full warm bath with shampoo that's actually made for their coat type — not the same bottle for every dog.

After that comes the blow dry (some dogs love it, some give us the look of betrayal), brushing out, trimming, nail clip, ear cleaning, and whatever breed-specific work they need.

The whole thing takes about 1-2 hours depending on size and coat condition. And they walk out smelling like they just came from a spa. Because they basically did.
