I had to go get fuel .. go to the bank.. but stopped for lunch and am now drinking coffee getting ready for the afternoon shift..

We are fighting a battle here in this county for farms and farmland. Our county decided to drop some new zoning and land use rules on us .. I’m happy to say we are all fired up. The battle continues at tonight’s meeting .. some very fine folks are speaking and protesting .. I have also been writing letters and lodging complaints… we ALL will have to do it.

Housekeeping..
When you see some guy or gal posting a comment on your comment on how they want to be your friend.. they don’t… they want your wallet or your FB profile or something. I usually catch them and block them but report them to me so I can take out the trash.

Mother Nature is going to ease us on into fall.

Now for the bad news.
Dolce will be having surgery again this coming week. He has had complications and we decided the best course of action was another surgery. No one is happy about… not the vets, not me.
Stuff happens. We have all experienced it.
We have tentatively scheduled for next Friday… keeping an eye on him.

I suppose this is the part where most people would throw him away.. say it’s too expensive, too much work.. not worth it…
But it’s worth it to him. He will, of course, never race again and he will be limited on what he can do..
We are still waiting on some pathology which is the only thing that would change our course.

Say a few jingles for Dolce and tell him he is worth the journey.

It will soon be horse blanket time… I guess we will see how the weather holds. Sometimes we don’t blanket until November if the temps remain mild and the rain is minimal.
Horses are already “hairing” up. We horse people use that as a barometer for the weather to come. Clifford’s coat is thick… Tate has a very fine coat and never grows much winter hair. Of course Clifford will not tolerate a blanket! We all know that Tate is hard on his blankets and we have to get special “fit over the head” types for him.

I supposed next week we will sort the blankets… which means SPIDERS.. which means screaming (ask anyone here)
These are the times that I personally will feel like buying a NEW blanket so I don’t have to see/hear/feel/imagine a spider. EWWW.

I have been wondering where all the rats were.. now I know.. the mink is in town and he is ratting as well as terrifying the chickens. I hope he doesn’t decide that chicken tastes better than rat …😳

I didn’t see one rat today but saw the mink several times. His coat is not as beautiful as it once was.. it looks sort of mangey.

Well guess who’s here?

Our Story

DONATION INFORMATION: Paypal to [email protected] or mail to : Pony Up Rescue for Equines PO Box 1023 Olalla, WA 98359

Our mission is to rescue, rehab and re-home equines in Washington State who are victims of neglect, abuse or abandonment. We may provide sanctuary for older horses who are not adoptable. We provide resources and education for our local community to help facilitate better care of equines. We offer hands on experience, community low cost health clinics, food banks and euthanasia assistance. We also help other farm animals as our budget and capacity allow.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible, and we are part of many giving campaigns, including the WA State Employees Combined Fund Drive, the Boeing and Microsoft Giving Campaigns.

We are proud to be 100% volunteer managed. We open our doors to visits from youth centers and veteran programs to facilitate hands on learning about horses and other farm animals.
