Calling All Lawn Pros! ☘️🐶

Do you own a lawn or w**d spraying company? Want to make a HUGE difference for shelter dogs with just a little time and product?

The OKC Animal Welfare 's front yard is used for dog enrichment, playtime, and adoption events—but we have a BIG problem… stickers. Painful, awful, stuck-in-their-paws, sometimes-can’t-even-help-them stickers. 🥺💔

But wait, there’s more! We’d also love to spray the walking trail along Grand Ave (that we walk) and possibly Trosper Park! These are the routes for our bi-weekly walks, and we’d love to make them safer and more enjoyable for both the dogs, our volunteers and the public who join us! 🐾💚

Can you help? Even if you can only do one section, let us know! Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a huge difference! Areas of importance listed below.

1st -- Front lawn - 60,000 sqft
2nd -- S Grand walking trail section we walk - 60,000 Sqft
3rd -- Trosper Park area

🌱 Important note: We only want to target stickers—we love our pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects! If you can help us tackle the sticker problem while keeping nature happy, we’d be so grateful!

☘️We’re Bringing the Loot to the End of This Rainbow!☘️

That’s right—Be Kind Rescue Dogs is adding some extra fun (and lotto tickets! 😍) to the Saturday, March 15th walk at OKC Animal Welfare! You just need to bring the luck and your walking shoes!

🐾 Show up at 9:15 AM at OKC Animal Shelter and hang out in the grassy area, not blocking walkway or doors.
🐾 A volunteer will pair you with a shelter dog for a 2-mile group walk
🐾 Enjoy the fresh air, give a pup some much-needed time outside, and take pics to help them get adopted!

For this special St. Patty's Day walk, BKRD is adding a fun twist!
🍀 Keep an eye out for hidden shamrocks along the route.
📸 Take a photo of the dog you’re walking with each shamrock (selfie or just the pup).

🎉 Today Was Spay Day for Freeway Kitten! 🎉

Our sweet Thanksgiving rescue, Freeway, had her spay surgery today (along with all needed vaccines & microchip) and is officially ready for her new life! She’ll be taking it easy for the next few days as she recovers, but we’re thrilled to share that this little fighter already has an adopter lined up! 😍

Thank you to everyone who donated to her care—you made it possible for us to provide her with the medical attention she needed to heal and prepare for this next chapter. We’re so grateful we were in the right place at the right time to find her, and now, thanks to your generosity, she has a whole new life ahead of her!

Freeway went from a scared, injured kitten on the side of the highway to a loved and cherished companion, all thanks to your support

😻 Kitten Update: Freeway's Fight! 😻

We’ve got some good news to share about our Thanksgiving rescue, Freeway!

After 24 hours without drinking water, we took her back to the emergency vet for subcutaneous fluids. The vet gave us a little laugh and said, "You probably found yourself a feral kitten!" Well, the fluids must have done wonders because today our sweet girl is feeling much better—and if she was feral, she must have a case of amnesia! 🤣

That said, she still isn’t eating on her own yet. We know her mouth has some trauma, which could explain why. We’re keeping a close eye on her and making sure she gets the care she needs to recover fully.

Freeway is already showing her personality and proving she’s a fighter. As long as she keeps improving, we’ll get her scheduled for her spay and vaccines soon so she can be ready for adoption!

Unlike our name suggests, Be Kind Rescue Dogs doesn’t just help dogs—we’re here for ANY animal in need when we can. And today, that includes a tiny 4-5 month old kitten fighting for her life.

One of our founders was driving in Stillwater on Thanksgiving day, when they spotted a little body on the shoulder of the highway, bleeding from her mouth, nose, and ear. At first, it seemed she was gone...but then she let out the faintest meow. Without hesitation, they wrapped her in their coat and rushed her to an emergency vet.

After x-rays, we’re relieved to share there are no broken bones! However, her condition remains critical. She’s not drinking on her own yet, and if that doesn’t change by the end of the day, she’ll need subcutaneous fluids from the vet to keep her stable.

We’re committed to giving this sweet kitten every chance at survival, but emergency care like this comes with unexpected costs. Can you help us help her? Her ER vet bill is posted and we are expecting to take her back in to our regular vet tomorrow for assessment of fluids.

With your amazing support, we wrapped up our PUP-kin Patch fundraiser on a high note! We're incredibly grateful for everyone who adopted one of our sweet PUP-kins or just donated. It was a joy meeting each of you, and we loved the chance to chat and share about the work we're doing! Together, we raised $650 to give back to shelter dogs! That's such a beautiful impact, and we couldn’t have done it without you! 🥰

🌟 Let us tell you a story about rescues joining forces to ! 🐾💙

Though we're not a foster-based rescue and don't typically pull dogs from shelters, we're always ready to lend a paw when we can make a difference! Recently, an incredible group that specializes in finding homes for shelter dogs reached out to us for help with a sweet boy named Carlos—and we were all in!

So what’s Carlos’ journey been like? Well, thanks to our amazing team, he’s no longer on the euth list and now getting the royal treatment! We'll be covering his neuter, updating his rabies vaccine, and getting him a heartworm test so he’s all set for his next big adventure. For now, he’s kicking back and loving life with a wonderful temporary foster family here in OKC, enjoying every moment before his transport to Kentucky in just a few days! 🐶✨

It’s such a beautiful thing to work with other rescues, help a dog in need, and make space at our local shelter for more animals. So, everyone, meet Carlos! 💙🐾 Join us in wishing him all the love on his journey ahead!
