The late June weather continues to require scheduling flexibility and adapting future training session dates. Due to weather conditions for the Monday, June 23rd classes, an adjustment to future Monday training dates is being made. Additionally, there may be a need to modify training dates for the Wednesday and Thursday training dates should weather continue to cause delays this week.
Below are the modified training dates for the May/June Monday classes as well as the projected adjusted training dates for all classes for Session 2. I will be sending an "update email" for those registered for Session 2 in addition to this post.

Session 1 - Monday evening classes (Foundation and Beginner) - projected week six and end of session will be June 30th.

Session 2 - Please note adjusted dates below which may differ from earlier dates on the tentative schedule.
Monday evening - (Foundation and Beginner) - July 14th, July 21st, July 28th, August 4th, August 11th, August 18th. *Note new starting date of July 14th*

Wednesday evening - (Novice/Open and Advanced Competition) - June 25th, July 2nd, July 9th, July 16th, July 23rd, July 30th

Thursday evening - (Beginner and Advanced Beginner) - June 26th, July 3rd, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th, July 31st

06/23/2025

Training classes for Monday, June 23rd are cancelled due to rain and an increasing heat index making training problematic.
The current Foundation and Beginner Monday evening classes will have their sixth week of training for the May/June session on June 30th.
I will be adjusting training session dates for the June/July session and sending that out to individuals registered for the next session. Sorry for the weather delay.

06/07/2025

Updated schedule for the planned June/July and August/September training sessions:
June/July
Monday (Foundation Beginner 6:00 PM and Beginner 7:15 PM): 6/30, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28, 8/4, 8/11
Wednesday (Open/Novice Competition 6:00 PM and Advanced Competiton 7:15 PM): 6/18, 6/25, 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23
Thursday (Beginner 6:00 PM and Advanced Beginner 7:15 PM): 6/26, 7/3, 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, 7/31

Preliminary August/September session which is dependent upon weather delays within the June/July session:
Monday (Two Beginner level classes): 8/18, 8/25, 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, 9/29
Wednesday (Open/Novice Competition and Advanced Competition): 7/30, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, 8/27, 9/3
Thursday (Beginner and Advanced Beginner): 8/7, 8/14, 8/21, 8/28, 9/4, 9/11

The third session is a preliminary offering and may be affected should there be weather delays within the second session. Due to limited daylight hours nearing the end of September it is not feasible to carryover nor extend classes into October. I will adjust class start times for the third session once it is finalized. Thanks!!

06/07/2025

The first session of training classes are nearing the end. The Monday evening session has had one weather delay and the remaining training nights for the Monday first session are: June 9th, June 16th and June 23rd. The Wednesday and Thursday evening training classes have been able to stay on schedule. The Wednesday evening classes will have week 6 on June 11th and the Thursday evening classes will have week 6 on June 19th (no June 12th training class due to a judging schedule conflict).
I will be uploading registration information listing for the June-July classes in the next couple days. For those currently registered for training in either the May-June or June-July sessions, you will be receiving an email with a link to review the proposed class listings. If there are any requests for changing to a different class or questions on the class listing, please let me know. I hope to have that link emailed out by Sunday evening.
Please note a new policy implementation: If a registrant submitted a training reservation for the May-June session, and decided to not participate in the training session and did not notify me that they would not be participating, I will be barring those registrants from any classes offered the remainder of this summer and fall. This is due to not being able to offer the reserved spot to someone on a wait list and adversely affecting the class planning.
If there are any questions please let me know. Thanks!!

The Cyclone Country Kennel Club is hosting their annual three days of agility trials at Iowa State University May 23rd through 25th (Friday through Sunday). For those wanting to know estimated class run times, attached are estimates for each day.

05/04/2025

Inquiries have asked about daytime training classes or training opportunities. The primary requests have been for a Beginner level training class (dogs that have been through an agility Foundation training class) or competition level sequencing and weave pole training opportunity.

I have compiled an online survey to determine which days and times may work best for the respective training opportunities. The options include various times on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. A link to the free online poll is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LJJGZ9W

If you have an interest in either daytime training options, please complete the poll and I will attempt to add these training opportunities into the schedule.

Thanks for the interest!!

DMOTC May 2025 estimated class run times.
The DMOTC is hosting three days of agility trials on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, at the Jester Park Equestrian Center. Times are estimated using separate walk-thrus (walk-run / walk-run) for the EMS and EMJ classes. If those are changed to combined walks (walk-walk-run) times will be modified somewhat, but not in a major way.
Good luck to all competing during the three day trial weekend!!

Starting in May 2025 I will be expanding agility training opportunities during weekdays from late morning to mid-afternoon in addition to the already scheduled group classes in the evenings. Weekday daytime classes can be formatted to focus upon specific training issues or work on isolated skill sets, or can be arranged to work entire courses and address course challenges and determining handling options. Should a demand arise for adding group classes during the day this option will be considered as well. Feel free to contact me there are daytime training opportunities wanting to be explored. Thanks!!

With upcoming agility trials in central Iowa, I am able to provide open training times over the next few weeks. For the week of April 13th there will be a JWW course (Excellent/Master level, but can sequences within can be worked at an Open or Novice level) setup. I am holding off one more week to put the contact equipment in the training area lawn to allow the grass to green up a bit more. However, if needing specific work on any contacts, let me know and we can arrange to provide access in the storage building area.
A signup calendar has been setup for 2025 and the link is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ptyXZZr7Ym5B9uY5dX_5tliC7C9uQQurjkYfU97xwiI/edit?usp=sharing
Training will be $5.00 for a one hour slot for each team/dog slot utilizing that training time. Multiple individuals can signup for the same hour if wanting to work together in a group. If you need specific help with anything please let me know and I will try to make myself available during your training time to provide assistance.
Please let me know if there are any questions or difficulties with the calendar signup.

2025 Agility Class Tentative Schedule & Registration
Session General Information:
Three agility training sessions are planned to begin in April 2025 and running through September 2025.

Classes are designed for fun for both dog and handler. Training is outdoors and will meet unless extreme weather causes a cancellation.

Training sessions are planned for a six-week duration. Training is conducted outdoors so adjustments may be required due to weather conflicts. Training location is 586 190th Street in Ogden, Iowa.

Foundation class: designed for any dogs six months of age or older and starting new in agility. The class will emphasize introduction to groundwork with jumps (without bars and low bars), tunnels, weave poles, and handler teamwork. Introduction to contact obstacles on the ground will provide dogs a familiarization to the obstacles in a safe manner. Emphasis is placed upon creating a confident introduction to agility equipment along with creating teamwork between canine and handler. Designed for on-lead handling as needed.

Beginner’s class: will be for dogs six months of age or older and have had at least a Foundation class or previous Beginner class introduction. Skills will focus upon building short sequences with the various equipment as well as moving from training height on contact obstacles to full height contact obstacles during the session. Continued emphasis on teamwork.

Advanced Beginner’s class: will be for dogs having completed one Beginner’s session, but not necessarily ready to work off-lead in a controlled fashion. Also for dogs preparing for Novice trial competition but not yet competing. Training will focus upon longer sequence handling and increasing handler skills for advancing sequence complexity.

Novice class: will be for dogs having been through at least one agility class, able to work off-lead in a controlled fashion, and are either ready to be competing or are competing at the Novice class level. Sequences and handling skills will focus on Novice and some Open trial levels to advance both canine and handler skills. Will also individualize training as able.

Advanced Competition class: will be for dogs either actively competing at the Open/Excellent level or those preparing for a transition to higher competition level training. Class components will focus on Master/Excellent and Premier level type sequences and work on drills to build handling skills for the more complex sequences. Will also individualize training as able.
