My purchase of a well bred purebred dog does not condemn another dog to death.
My purchase of a well bred purebred dog does not result in an uptick in the shelter dogs.
My desire to have a dog with predictable temperament from a healthy line does not result in another dog not getting adopted at the shelter.
My careful research on the most responsible breeders who meet all requirements is not the problem. It's not what you should be mad at.
It's not who you should blame.
I am not the one who irresponsibly brought these dogs into this world and left them in a shelter. Responsible breeders aren't the ones bringing these dogs to animal shelters either.
It's my home, my life and my choice what kind of dog I want to bring in. Maybe I need a working dog, sport dog, show dog or just a companion dog of a certain breed that suits me best.
Whatever reason I choose to support a reputable breeder, it will not send an animal protection dog to death.
A breeder who does health tests, temperament tests and titling of their dogs does not contribute to the number of stray dogs.
The number of stray dogs in the world is a problem, but it's not a problem made worse by reputable breeders or those who buy from them.
Your neighbor who gets a "purebred" dog without papers because they're cheap is contributing to the problem.
Your friend who spontaneously bought a puppy from Petland is contributing to the problem.
The person scrambling to pump out the hottest designer mix ASAP is contributing to the problem.
Your relatives who have to get their dog covered once, "so she can experience what it's like to be a mother" or because "she's such a good/cute/sweet girl" are contributing to the problem.
Your old school mate who bought a working dog with lots of energy without taking the time to research its needs and character who ultimately sees it doesn't fit his lifestyle is the problem.
A reputable breeder offers lifetime support. A serious breeder would never allow their dogs to end up in a shelter from the start.
It's understandable to be angry about the number of homeless dogs in the world, but if you look closer, you'll find that your anger is misplaced.

Last month I decided to switch from half kibble half raw to full raw. So glad I did, I thought it would be too hard I didn’t have confidence to even try. I did it anyway. My dogs are thriving more than ever. Today’s breakfast: ground beef, hard boiled egg( my dogs won’t do raw), sardines, cottage cheese, green beans, chicken gizzards and berts natural greens, daily blend and omega 3 fish oil

Well last weekend Mason and I started a new class called Rally Obedience in an effort to earn a total dog title. Not sure yet how it all works yet but anyway. He and I managed to score a 90 and a 93 ( best is 100) on our Rally obedience and he won his champion confirmation classes. We even got highest score in the class so pulled off 2 wins in rally. I am so thrilled as we both had no clue really what to expect and as most first things go we DQ’d in the first trial. Lol. But we learned a lot and came back to win the next 2.

HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY?
Let me say a few words to you, yes you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly states: “I can buy a cheaper pup elsewhere”. I also address you; the person who doesn’t care about papers because I want “just a pet”.
No dog is “just a pet”.
Behind every pure bred puppy/dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed dogs without papers, that does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are records of lineage that document bloodline and allow one to research any possible health issues present in the lineage. When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about papers what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the puppy you just want the cheapest thing you can find! When you select to buy a puppy from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every pup ; both dogs owned and every pup they’ve sold for its lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their dogs . The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in puppies that are sold, but also in each client who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any puppy/dog who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question.
A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in everything accompanied with birthing. Because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do tests, echos, x-rays, analysis, emergency c sections, vaccinations, register litters, research pedigrees, de-worm, as well as microchip their puppies and get them evaluated by specialists.
Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice.
Because a dog is never “just a pet” it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, an elderly persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world!!!

Worth the share with so much truth in this article. Responsible breeding and owning multiple dogs is a lifestyle and commitment that many are not able to comprehend. 7 days a week and 365 days a year with our lives revolving around the dogs ❤️

What a weekend in Iowa at a dog show. Great show, very nice facility and people. Weather was overcast with a hail storm to finish it off on Sunday evening. Oh well it didn’t dampen our spirits. Mason showed very well earning 4 BOB and 3rd in Group. Max showed his little heart out and after a bit of grooming help he finished his weekend with 4 wins, 2 best of Males, 2 best of Winners and 3 reserve BOB. I could not be happier with my boys. Thank you for all your help Laura Hamilton Berndt and Carolyn. We are planning on doing a bit more showing and adding on Rally Obedience on Mason and barn rat for Max. If we do well they can earn a title called total dog.

Dog show wrap up from IABCA show in OKLAHOMA City. I was so very proud of both Mason and Max. They both did so well. This was Masons first show of the year and our first IABCA show and this was Max’s first adult show with IABCA. I like these show because you get written evaluations of your dogs and they are willing to help you learn how to show and become a better handler.
Mason had several class wins and BOB, came in 2nd and got 2 third place finishes in Group.
Max showed his little heart out. Did very well and great remarks, got BOB but just didn’t have enough for group. There are so many much bigger hounds and he looks like bait out there. Lol.
