Ask ten experienced alpaca farmers what the hardest part of farming is, and you may get ten different answers.
For one farmer, it's keeping pasture productive.
For another, it's understanding herd dynamics.
Someone else may say cria season, breeding decisions, parasite management, or simply keeping up with the daily workload.
And that's an important reminder:
There is no single “easy” part of alpaca farming.
The challenge often depends on:
🌦️ Weather and season
🦙 Herd size and individual animals
🌿 Pasture and farm setup
📋 Experience and record keeping
⏰ How much time is available each day
The interesting part is that farmers often develop very different solutions to the same problem.
That's where community experience becomes valuable.
What's one part of alpaca farming that became easier for you with experience?
