My Mom reads all of our posts and is our number one fan. She says the captions are her favorite part. I am not sure if the captions should be what photographers are know for , but here is a description of a recent photo shoot just for my Mom.
The weather was horrible all day here in San Diego. The photo shoot was at 6 pm and it was still raining and cold at 3 PM. I called Fire the Nova Scotia Duck Toller 's owner and she said she was still up for going to the beach.
After hearing this I knew we had the potential for a spectacular shoot. By the time we arrived at the beach, the rain had let up and fortunately the clouds stuck around. It was still ice cold by San Diego standards (below 60 degrees) and the wind was blowing hard from the west.
My two high school sons that work with me on every session froze in their shorts and t-shirts while "San Diego Snow" AKA sand blew everywhere.
Channeling our inner Shackleton we pressed on and so did Fire and Shelley. By the time the sun set all four of the human participants were wet from head to toe and shaking like a leaf in the wind. Fire, on the other hand, was ready to chase his float into the ocean for the 1,000th time. As we left we checked our fingers and toes for frostbite, said goodbye to Shelley and Fire and ran back to the car as fast as possible to turn on the heat.
Since this day we have made sweatshirts mandatory for all photo sessions at the beach . This "ruff" life isn't for the faint of heart , but until dogs learn to take their own photos we will be called upon and we will deliver.
