Meet Mabel!
Mabel came to our shelter as a stray. She was dirty, extremely matted (one of the worst cases we have ever seen), and had a laceration on her neck. Despite the neglect Miss Mabel had endured, she had not lost faith in humanity, and jumped lovingly into our arms. After getting her a much needed emergency groom with the help of Paw-Sitive Grooming, and getting her neck stitched up, Mabel is finally ready for adoption! And let us tell you, she could not be more excited. This girl LOVES people, all she wants is someone to hang out with. Mabel is energetic and gets along well with other polite dogs. Due to her breed, Mabel will require regular grooming. If you're interested in Mabel please consider the commitment that her grooming will require, this girl cannot go through the horror she has already been through. If you think Mabel may just be the perfect best friend for you, please give us a call at 760-725-8120 and we'll arrange a meet and greet.

***ADOPTED***

Nena is a sweet girl, as her name suggests. She is 3 years old and has been in the same family since she was a puppy. Her family situation has changed, and now she needs a new loving home. Nena can be a bit shy at first, especially around strangers, but she is wonderful once she gets to know you. She has lived with older children, has been an indoor/outdoor dog, has been allowed on the furniture, knows the commands sit and stand, and likes to play fetch. She walks nicely on a leash and would love a daily walk with you. Nena is a great medium-size dog too, so she would fit nicely into many home environments. If you're interested in Nena, please give us a call at 760-725-8120 to arrange a meet and greet.

Meet Honey!
Honey is a sweet girl looking for love, affection and a home to call her own. Honey was originally brought to us as a stray. However, after further investigation, we discovered that the person who turned her in lied and was in fact her owner, and had had her for most of her life. Sadly, her story is one that we encounter frequently. Honey is now safe and cared for at our shelter, but she would love to have a family of her own. Due to her past history at her previous home, Honey would do best in a home with no other pets, or children. Could you be the family she has dreamed of? If you're interested in Honey, please give us a call at 760-725-8120.

Sweet Shar-pei Elle is just about 1 year old. She came to the shelter as a stray dog, and no one came to find her, so here she is, dreaming of a new loving forever home. She knows the command sit and likes a tasty treat as a reward. She has a gentle mouth when taking treats from you. She takes a minute to warm up to new people which is typical of her breed. Her left eye recently had to be removed after the vet exam revealed that it was abnormal and would be problematic for her. This charming girl is now feeling much better with that gookie gooey boo-boo eye gone. She is doing just fine with one eye, as most dogs do when they lose an eye.

A Shar-pei is not a breed for just anybody. Definitely do your research before adopting one to make sure she has the traits and characteristics that will be a good fit for your family. Some of the things you will learn: They are reserved and independent, devoted to their family, affectionate, like to snuggle, intelligent, and guarded with strangers. They are NOT typically high-energy, and do NOT require a ton of exercise. They are wary of other dogs. Not big fans of the water, so bath time could be interesting. Please do look up more info on the internet. We want her to have a forever family this time, please, with people will love her and properly care for her.

If you'd like to meet her, please do give us a call and we'll set up some get-acquainted time for you with her out in the play yard. She'd like to meet you!

The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee $110.

Even if you do not have regular, normal access to the base, please DO give us a call and we will work with you to arrange a meeting. Please call ahead at 760-725-8120.

Meet Kobe!

Kobe is an energetic big boy, 4 years old, and he appears to be Boxer/Retriever mix, and maybe some American Bulldog, you think? He is very active and would benefit from daily exercise and playtime with his people. He came to us after his owner dumped him at a friend's house, and never came back. So here he is, dreaming of a new loving home, forever this time please! He walks well on a Martingale-type collar, or a harness. He is over-bubbled with excitement when first out of his kennel, but once you get going on that walk, he settles in to a nice walking pace. He knows sit, and loves a tasty treat as a reward. We're working on getting him to take the treats gently. Just when he is in his kennel, Kobe is barky, but once we get him out of the kennel he's not barky at all, and is happy just to be out with you. (But sh!.... just between us... πŸ˜‰ ...When he does bark he sounds fearsome, so very likely nobody gonna disturb your house if they hear him!) He'll make a great family companion for people with big-dog experience who can take him out for some daily exercise, and make him a real member of the family. DO give a call and make a plan to come out and meet him.

The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
Adoption Fee: $110.

Call ahead when ready to come meet him. Even if you do not have regular, normal access to the base, please DO give us a call and we will work with you to arrange a meeting. 760-725-8120

Thank you Paw-Sitive Grooming for taking such great care of Mabel! Grooming is an extremely important part of caring for your pet. Unfortunately, we see cases like these far too often with breeds like Mabel. Please do your research on the breed you have or are thinking about getting. Whether it's curly hair, corded hair, or a double coat, it will require extra work and attention. Matting is not just an annoyance, it can be very painful and can cause bruising, wounds, and infection. Severe cases of matting are downright inhumane. Please don't let your pet get to this point.

***Dixie has been adopted***

Do you need a running partner? Well so does Dixie! Dixie is a super energetic, happy go lucky girl. We're not sure of her breed, but we think Hound is somewhere in there. She came to our shelter as a stray and no one has come to reclaim her. This girl has been waiting patiently for the perfect home. Dixie's ideal home would be one where she can be very active with her people and get lots of love and cuddles. She also LOVES to play fetch! If you are interested in Dixie, please give us a call at 760-725-8120 and we will schedule an appointment for you to meet her.

Kobe has been with us for a long time, waiting patiently for his forever home. Could that be you? After getting out of the military, Kobe's owner dumped him at a friend's house and never came back. Kobe's story is one that, sadly, we see often. Despite his circumstances, Kobe has not lost faith in humanity. He is a super goofy boy who just wants to be with his people, doing stuff. Kobe loves a good walk, and he loves a good snack. He is extremely food motivated! We are still working on some of Kobe's manners, but he is very eager to learn and please. If you are interested in Kobe please give us a call at 760-725-8120 and we can set up an appointment for you to meet.

***Bolt has been adopted***

Are you looking for a new best friend? Bolt is young, full of energy and eager to learn how to be a good boy and the best companion. This boy has been through a lot. He desperately wants a home and a family to call his own that won't give up on him. Because Bolt is still a puppy, he will require a LOT of work and patience. We cannot stress this enough, please do NOT adopt a puppy if you aren't prepared for the level of commitment that puppies (and all pets) require. If you are interested in Bolt please give us a call at 760-725-8120 and we can schedule an appointment for you to meet.
