***Lando has been transferred to the San Diego Humane Society***

Lando came to us a stray after being found roaming loose in a park on base. He is a sweet happy little guy and is now available for adoption! Unfortunately, guinea pigs are not allowed on base, so Lando will have to be adopted to live off-base. If you are interested, please give us a call at 760-725-8120.

Yukon is a gorgeous girl, about 2 years old. Her striking good-looks will turn heads wherever you take her. She came to us as a stray dog so we are still learning about her. She seems to get along with other polite, friendly dogs her size, and has enjoyed her time in the play yard with one of our other dogs. She knows the command sit, and likes a tasty treat as a reward. She is energetic and playful and will need an exercise session every single day to burn off some of that natural energy. It would be good for her family to do some research on huskies and know as much as possible about the breed before adopting one. Huskies are not a dog for just anybody. So, please do some research, have some big-dog experience, have time for playing and exercise every day, and there's a good chance you'd be a good fit for Yukon, and she'd be a good fit for you. We love her ears!

Nala from Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter is a lovely lady, about 7 years old, with the prettiest reddish-brown fur and a charming personality. She is a quiet and loyal companion who is affectionate, independent, and smart. She enjoys spending her days with the people she loves, whether it be going on walks, or just relaxing at home. Nala walks nicely on leash too. She can be good with other polite friendly dogs that are about her size when they are properly introduced, and she has enjoyed being out in the play yard to romp with a husky mix here at the shelter. She knows the command sit, and likes getting a tasty treat as a reward. At just 35 pounds, she is a great size! - - not too big, not too small, perfect cuddle size. And those ears! -- the artful arrangement of non-matchy ears is a perfectly endearing characteristic. This sweet girl is dreaming of a new loving home where she can be the family's faithful friend forever this time, please. DO give us a call and plan to come meet her. It will be the lucky family that adopts her.
The public is welcome to come adopt the patriotic pets at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter! All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, flea-treated, and micro-chipped prior to adoption.

Through ABSOLUTELY no fault of her own Beautiful Onna finds herself back at the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter. It wasn't you Onna. Your perfect home awaits you.

Onna is a beautiful Akita, 2 ½ years old. And yes, you did see her here about a year ago. Then she was adopted for 11 months, and then her adopters had a baby and now don’t have time for Onna. So here is this beautiful girl, again dreaming of a new loving home, forever this time, please.
Well, at least we know more about her. Here is what her former adopters have told us about Onna:
- She has been well-behaved around the new baby.
- Is house-trained, and has been an indoor dog who loves being with her family.
- She loves playing ball and playing with rope toys.
- Likes walks, attention and cuddles.
- Knows sit, lay down, stay, give hug, paw, and likes a tasty treat as a reward.

She enjoys playing with toys and chasing-around out in the shelter play yard. She is picky about other dogs in her space, so no off-leash areas or dog parks for Onna, please.
If you’ve done your breed research, and if you really know and love the Akita breed, and if you have the financial resources to feed a really big dog properly, and if you have time to take care of that fabulous fur coat with frequent brushing, and if you are big-dog savvy, then please DO give us a call and make a plan to come meet her. She’d enjoy some extra play time with you.

***Sparky is back and available for adoption once again!***

***Thank you everyone! Sparky has been adopted!***

Meet Sparky, and buckle up because his journey to us was quite the wild ride! After being dumped right outside the base, Sparky was running at large scared out of his mind. Through a series of unfortunate events he was tased twice by a law enforcement official (not affiliated with Camp Pendleton), pinned down to the ground and had a baton shoved in his mouth, breaking some teeth in the process. When Sparky finally arrived at our shelter we were incredibly worried about him and how he would recover. Despite what he had been through, he let us nurse him back to health and began to slowly trust again. We soon discovered a prominent deep scar around his neck from either a rope or a collar, suggesting that he may have been abused in the past. His teeth were also in very poor shape, most of them were black and brown, making it difficult to accurately age him. Needless to say, this guy had been through it all, but despite everything he surprisingly never lost his faith in people. Sparky is a gentle giant, true to his breed. He is very affectionate, goofy and just all around sweet. Be prepared though, it might take him a little while to warm up to you (can you blame him?) Sometimes he is more cat-like than dog-like. If you're one of his people he loves to rub all over you (he is a velcro dog for sure) and will do whatever he can to get into your lap. We think Sparky is young, around 2 years old. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes, and is well-mannered. He recently got neutered, received a much needed dental, and a gastropexy (a surgical procedure to help prevent bloat, a life-threatening condition that large breeds are often prone to.) Sparky is now ready for adoption! If you've read this far and have fallen in love with Sparky, please give us a call at 760-725-8120 to meet him. Poor Ms. Jackie is our last available dog left, all of her buddies have been adopted, and now she's all alone. She has been adopted twice and returned through no fault of her own. The first time she was returned for being too big, the second time because her owner didn't have enough time for her. Please make sure you really think things through before adopting a pet, this girl can't handle any more heartbreak. Could you be her forever home?

***Update: Cryptid has been transferred to the San Diego Humane Society - Escondido***

This beautiful lady came to our shelter after she was found shut in a pantry with no food or water. California state law dictates that pets must always have access to water! Needless to say, her old owner did not get her back. Cryptid was very hungry when we first found her. She has since had a full belly and has been thriving under our care. Despite her past, Cryptid ADORES humans and would love nothing more than her own person, and her own forever home. Can you give this girl the life she deserves?

This lovely lady is Cognac, and she is high-octane, energetic, and ready to learn more of the behaviors all youngsters should learn. We think she's just about 1 year old. She came to the shelter as a stray so we are still learning more about her. If you are big-dog experienced, and know and love shepherds, then she might be a match for you. She will need lots of exercise and play time and training time to keep her mind and her body in good condition. With her smarts, she'll be anxious to please you as you lead her and train her with positive reinforcement, patience, and love. Will you have time for her every single day to help her finish growing up into a well-behaved, adored family companion?
