Paws of Tomorrow Located at the Delaware Beaches, we are a 501c3 animal rescue founded in 2008. Paws of Tomorrow animal rescue is based out of Fenwick Island, DE.

We are not a shelter, we are an animal rescue that works with shelters to save dogs on death row, as well as injured and abandoned animals. All individuals that work with our rescue are volunteers and do this solely to help these animals find homes. We take pride in knowing that we are not only helping these animals but also helping you find the perfect pet for your home. We are a 501c3 federally

recognized non-profit animal rescue, which means that all donations are fully tax deductible. We accept donations to cover the cost of rescuing and caring for dogs that would otherwise not have a second chance at life. We can only pull dogs if we have the funding to do so. With your help we can help more dogs than ever expected. Together we can save one life at a time. Most people are unaware of what "really" goes on in shelters across America. Our goal is to raise this awareness. Many shelters are high kill shelters, mostly due to lack of financing, lack of volunteers, and lack of space. Many of these shelters are gassing shelters. This means that the animals are placed in a gas chamber to be euthanized. This caused these animals extreme pain. You can read more about this on our “Gas Chamber” web page. If you wish to foster a dog, please fill out our foster application on our application page. We will then contact you to discuss which dog will be right for your home. We see so many dogs each week that are in urgent need of foster homes. You can request to foster a specific dog that shows as "needs foster" on our site or we will help choose one that fits your home the best. You can specify the size, color, breed, etc that you prefer and we will discuss what may be best fitting for your home. We cover all vetting fees for our fostered animals. In order to adopt one of our amazing dogs, an adoption application is required. Please see our adoption page to learn more information on our adoption process. You will not be considered until an application is received by us. Once we receive your application we will contact you to do a phone interview. At that time we can answer any questions you may have. Please look at the specific dog you are interested in for the adoption fee. The fees vary by the vetting required, transport, age, and shelter fees for each pet. These fees are non-negotiable. This is an "Adoption Fee" and is solely for the adoption of that pet. We try to fully vet each dog but this is not guaranteed by paying the adoption fee. Paws of Tomorrow will adopt our loving pets to any area in the United States. We can help to provide transport of your new family member however please be aware that transport may require an extra charge. Please contact us for details. We require an application to be submitted prior to meeting one of our pets. We want to know a little about you before sending you to our volunteer’s home. Adopting is a huge responsibility and we need to know this will be a lifelong commitment to the animal. Paws of Tomorrow, Inc. will only consider adoption to FOREVER homes. It is also mandatory that if for any reason you cannot keep the pet at anytime, the animal must be returned to our rescue. If we find that you have not honored this, legal charges will be filed. The application/contract you sign explains all of this also. We do not tolerate any of our dogs going back to a shelter. We do not rescue them from high kill shelters for them to end up back where they started. We take this oath seriously and expect all our adopters to do the same. Adopting should be a lifelong commitment and rewarding experience! If you are interested in joining our team, please fill out a volunteer application. Sweet Ebeneezer had a BIG day yesterday! We spent some extra time working with and grooming Ebe, and it was just the encouragement this boy needed.

This guy finally started coming out of his shell. And we believe he has had some tactical training, at some point in his life. He knows commands that are above and beyond typical dog training. He can follow your hand in a way that is used in specialized training, he can also walk in and around your legs. He also will let us handle him in any way necessary. We groomed him, brushing mats from every part of his body, pulling and tugging. This guy was a perfect angel. And something magical happened during that time. He decided it was safe to be a dog. He now ventures around his foster home more, he galloped around the back yard like it was the greatest day of his life. He barked and jumped around eagerly, when it was time to eat. He takes food and treats gently from our hands. He rolled around, groomed himself, and even raised his tail in excitement, once!

This boy is going to be the most amazing friend for someone, and he’s so eager to please. He’s like a puppy discovering what it’s like to be a pet again. It’s obvious to us that this boy has been trained for something special, at one point in his life. We believe he had an owner/family, that he somehow lost. At which time he was displaced for long enough to become slightly feral. This is just our opinion, but he is giving us more signs each day.

For now, we are enjoying every moment of watching this boy gain his new found confidence. 🐾

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED — SMALL/MEDIUM DEAF DOG 🐾

We need a very special foster to open their home to a small to medium-sized deaf dog who is waiting for their chance. ❤️

Being deaf doesn’t make a dog any less loving, playful, smart, or deserving of a family. It simply means they communicate a little differently — and we need someone willing to learn alongside them. He’s house trained, 7 years old, and good with other dogs. He also likes to make feline friends.

We’re looking for a foster who can provide:

🏡 A safe, secure home
❤️ Patience, love, and understanding
🐾 A willingness to learn simple hand signals and communication
⏰ The time and commitment to help this dog decompress and thrive

You do NOT need experience with deaf dogs. We’ll be there to support you every step of the way and provide the supplies and veterinary care they need.

Sometimes the dog who needs a little extra understanding is the one who changes your life the most. 🥹❤️

❤️ A little Ebenezer update… ❤️

We’ve been waiting to share these because sometimes progress with a dog like Ebe doesn’t come in big, obvious milestones. Sometimes it looks like a dog who was once completely shut down slowly discovering that it’s okay to be a dog again. And lately, we’re seeing little pieces of that boy.

Ebe has officially fallen in LOVE with two stuffed animals. 🥹 He loves cuddling with them and has started seeking out the comfort they bring him. Watching him curl up with his toys might seem like such a small thing, but for Ebe, it’s HUGE.

He is still incredibly fearful. He still prefers to spend most of the day in his kennel, even though the door is open and he is free to come out. He doesn’t venture out very often yet.

However, we’ve discovered that Ebe is a morning dog. In the mornings, he is genuinely excited to see us. He runs around the yard, jumps up and down, and shows us a little bit of the happy, silly boy hiding underneath all that fear. We absolutely love seeing it.

He sleeps like a pro at night and is completely house and kennel trained. He’s such a little gentleman, and he is so afraid of upsetting anyone.

In rescue, there are moments like these… moments where you can look at his face and see something that wasn’t there when he first arrived.

Ebe wants love so badly. That is what makes his fear so heartbreaking. He wants to connect, he wants to feel safe, and he wants to be close — he just hasn’t learned yet that he can trust the people around him enough to let them in.

When Ebe came to us, he was completely shut down. He has come such a long way, but he still has a long way to go. His progress is going to be measured in baby steps, and that’s okay.

What we want everyone to understand is that when we call Ebe “fearful,” we mean scared. We do NOT mean aggressive. We do NOT mean unpredictable. This boy would never hurt a fly. Even when he was terrified and in pain, he never reacted negatively toward us. His instinct has always been to retreat and seek safety — never to fight.

And now we’re getting little glimpses of the dog underneath all that fear. The goofy boy. The playful boy. The boy who loves his stuffed animals. The boy who wants so desperately to be loved.

We don’t know exactly how long it will take for Ebe to fully come out of his shell, and we aren’t going to rush him.

But look at him.

He’s learning to trust. And we are so incredibly proud of him.

Ebeneezer is turning into quite the brave young man. 🥹❤️

Just a short time ago, getting Ebeneezer out of his kennel was a struggle. He was terrified of the world around him and would much rather stay tucked away where he felt safe.

But look at him now. 🥹

He is coming out on his own. He is watching what’s happening around him. He’s starting to trust that this is a safe place and that the people around him aren’t going to hurt him.

We’re not rushing him. We’re letting him set the pace, and he’s showing us that when given patience, consistency, and a safe place to land, even the most frightened dogs can begin to find their courage. ❤️

Keep going, sweet boy. You’re doing it. 🥹🐾

Another day with Ebeneezer, and another BIG accomplishment for this boy.

Today, he did something we’ve been patiently waiting for—he came all the way to the front of his kennel to greet us, stepped out on his own, and allowed us to pet him. 🥹 He adores the attention—on his terms. He just wants to be loved.

That may sound like a small thing, but for Ebeneezer, it’s HUGE. Just days ago, we had to physically pull him out of his kennel simply so he could go outside for bathroom breaks. Now, he’s choosing to come forward, choosing to step out, and beginning to accept affection.

He even took treats directly from our hands today! ☺️

His entire body language is changing. He’s becoming more curious, more engaged, and just a little more comfortable with the people around him.

After everything this boy has been through, watching him discover that he can be safe is incredibly rewarding.

He has made SO much progress this week, and we are beyond excited to see what the coming weeks have in store for him.

One tiny step at a time, Ebeneezer. You’re doing it. 🐾

🐾 FENDI IS STILL WAITING FOR HER NEXT ADVENTURE! 🐾

If you’re wondering what Fendi’s favorite thing to do is… just watch this video.

This girl LOVES going for walks — and honestly, she has very strong opinions about how those walks should go. She would prefer to be in charge of the leash, thank you very much. 😂

Fendi is a 7-year-old Pocket Bully who is full of personality. She loves her walks, car rides, cuddling with her people, and getting all the scratches behind her ears and along her sides. She also has a serious collection of toys and has been known to “borrow” an occasional sock. 🧦

Fendi is a girl who bonds deeply with her people and is very protective of the ones she loves. Because of that, she would do best as the only dog in the home and with adults or older children who understand and respect dog body language and boundaries.

She’s silly. She’s affectionate. She’s loyal. And she absolutely knows what she wants. ❤️

Now she just needs someone who wants to give this special girl a home where she can be someone’s spoiled girl.

After one full week of complete decompression, Ebeneezer was moved into a quieter but more open area of his foster home.

And boy, can 48 hours make a difference!

This guy is now lying down in his kennel—a HUGE improvement for a dog who was previously so fearful that he barely moved. He’s starting to show some curiosity, peeking out to see what’s happening around him and even watching his foster sibling.

He even let us brush his coat and remove the mats! 🥹 His coat is already looking so much better—soft, shiny, and, bizarrely, he doesn’t seem to shed much at all! He still needs a bath, but we’re taking things at his pace.

He also needs to gain a little weight, but thankfully, he loves mealtime, so we have no doubt we’ll be seeing a little more padding over those hip bones soon.

And while Ebeneezer looks much bigger in pictures, this little guy is actually only around 30 pounds! He’s the perfect size—big enough to make you feel protected, but small enough to be a serious cuddle bug.

Ebeneezer has also discovered that treat time is his absolute favorite. 🐾

He still has a long way to go, but the progress he’s making is remarkable. Every little step is a victory, and we can’t wait to see what the next few weeks bring for this sweet boy.

This photo encompasses why we rescue. 💙

This poor, sweet boy came to us completely shut down and extremely fearful of humans, with a severe injury on his back, just above his tail. It even appears that his tail may be paralyzed.

We are calling him Ebeneezer, and we believe he is a 4-year-old Kai Ken mix.

And here’s the sad part: this photo isn’t even day one. This is Ebeneezer one week after coming to us—and he has already made incredible progress. 🥺 Now it’s time to show him just how loving humans can be.

There are some dogs who leave paw prints on your heart forever, and Sugarplum is one of them.

Our sweet Sugarplum has officially been adopted. ❤️

Watching her walk out the door was incredibly bittersweet, but hearing how quickly she’s settled in has made our hearts so happy. It sounds like she’s already fallen completely in love with her new family… and they’ve fallen just as hard for her. We’ve even heard whispers that she may be dressing up as a hot dog for Halloween, and honestly, we can’t think of anything more perfectly Sugarplum.

This little girl has been one of a kind from the very beginning. She taught us that resilience can come wrapped in the tiniest package, that love can heal old wounds, and that every dog deserves someone who sees just how special they are.

Thank you to her amazing adopters for opening your hearts and giving her the forever home she always deserved. Love her fiercely, spoil her endlessly, and give her all the cuddles she asks for (which will be many!).

Sweet Sugarplum, thank you for letting us be a part of your story. We’ll miss your happy little face more than words can say, but knowing you’re exactly where you belong makes every goodbye worth it.

Happy forever, sweet girl. We love you. ❤️🐾
