I hope everyone had a wonderful February! February was here and over in the blink of an eye here at AVC. It was both a wonderful and tough month, with some tragedies, emergencies, and some tough goodbyes to some dearly loved companions and friends. We also said hello to new friends, had triumphs, hugs, happy tails, purrs, and puppy kisses! Being here for the beginning to the end of our companions’ journeys humbles us and keeps us grateful for each day we can help maintain a happy human-animal bond. We never take a day for granted around here!
Likewise it’s important for us to take every moment to celebrate and be grateful for the little things. Which is why I like to share when we welcome into the world a new little life.
Last week we had two separate new arrivals.
This first was the cutest little tri-colored female Cavalier King Charles puppy that was already so deeply loved and wanted. She was a singleton, who will get all of mom’s love and attention, and I know that will be a lot because mom was such a sweet dog and lover! She crawled into everyone’s lap and just wanted to give everyone kisses. I can easily see why people that have a Cavalier are so passionate about the breed! They’re so incredibly loving!
Our second arrival last week was a litter of 8 Borzoi puppies! They were so big, vigorous , and ready to go from the get go. Mom was so elegant and magnificent and she just took to her new puppies with so much love. It truly was a miracle to watch and we feel blessed to be involved in a small part of the journey of these new little lives. Little ones, may you run like the wind as you chase your dreams.
I would be negligent to not add, that on a more personal note of celebration, our youngest son turned 16 last week. He’s only been counting down the days since last year! If you come in on Saturdays or days there’s no school in session you’ve probably met both our boys. Whether they’re puppies or children, I think we can all agree they grow up too quickly!
