The Red Fern Pet Lodge is a state-of-the-art facility that contains 8,300 SF. The Lodge is equipped with air handling and sanitation systems designed to prevent and/or combat possible pathogens in order to maintain a clean, sanitary, and fresh smelling environment for our guests. The Lodge features indoor play areas, as well as, 2.25 acres of outdoor play areas. A full size, in-ground swimming pool will be completed soon!
The Red Fern Pet Lodge is owned and operated by Dick and Garnet Andrews and their three girls, Lauren, Emily and Allison. This dream of ours began several years ago in a typical family conversation. We, like so many others, found ourselves recovering from a severe downturn in the real estate market and looking to the future. My wife Garnet and I were looking to rent or make use of some commercial rental space and we challenged our children to be involved with any ideas for its use. We were open to the idea of a family business. The idea that stuck was a doggy daycare! Having dogs of our own, we often encountered difficulty in dog care whenever we went away on vacation. We soon discovered that many of our friends had the same problem. So, with an idea, a large building that needed to be used, a love for animals, and a lot of faith, we set out on this adventure.
We quickly learned that the specialized pet boarding market was relatively young, but growing fast. It seems we Americans love our dogs and cats as nearly 70% of us have one or more. And most of us treat our furry friends as family! We engaged an architect (Michelle Partin - Partin Architecture), a building contractor (Phil Brescia - Passion Build), and we have become a certified kennel operator through Master Plan Pet Care. With the ongoing training and support of Master Plan Pet Care, we will maintain the highest standards in pet safety, security, and thoughtful care.
