🚨 Avian Flu Alert: Protect Your Pets! 🚨

We want to inform our community that there has been a recent spike in avian flu (H5N1) cases, which can pose a risk to pets, particularly cats and dogs. While the virus primarily affects birds, there have been reported cases of domestic pets contracting avian flu from infected wildlife.

🦠 How Can Pets Contract Avian Flu?
🐦 Exposure to Infected Birds – Pets that come into contact with sick or dead wild birds are at risk.
🍗 Consumption of Raw Poultry – Feeding raw or undercooked poultry products may expose pets to the virus.
🌱 Contaminated Environments – Water sources, grass, or surfaces contaminated by infected birds can harbor the virus.

🚨 Symptoms in Pets
🐾 Fever or lethargy
🐾 Difficulty breathing
🐾 Coughing or sneezing
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea

If your pet has any of these symptoms, especially after exposure to birds, contact us immediately.

🛑 How to Protect Your Pets
✅ Keep cats indoors and dogs leashed on walks.
✅ Avoid areas where wild birds gather, such as ponds and fields.
✅ Do not feed pets raw or undercooked poultry.
✅ Disinfect food and water bowls if pets go outside.
✅ Wash your hands after handling birds or cleaning outdoor areas.

Early detection is key! Call us if you have concerns about your pet's health. Let’s keep our furry friends safe! ❤️🐾

🚨 Flea Prevention: Why It Matters for ALL Pets! 🚨

Think your indoor pet is safe from fleas? Think again! Fleas can hitch a ride on clothing, other animals, or even sneak in through open doors and windows. Once inside, they can multiply fast—a single flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day! 😱

Why Flea Prevention is a Must
🐾 It only takes ONE flea bite to trigger an allergic reaction, causing intense itching, hair loss, and skin infections.
🐾 Fleas can transmit tapeworms and other diseases to pets.
🐾 A flea infestation is much harder to treat than to prevent!

Prevention Options We Carry
✅ Credelio – A fast-acting oral flea & tick prevention for both dogs and cats.
✅ Revolution Plus – A topical solution for cats that protects against fleas, ticks, ear mites, and more.
✅ Simparica Trio – An all-in-one chewable for dogs that prevents fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites.

Year-round protection is key! Don't wait until fleas become a problem—protect your pet today! 🐶🐱

Did you know that the most common sugar substitute in foods could be deadly for your dog? Xylitol, now sometimes labeled as birch sugar, is everywhere—found in sugar-free gum, baked goods, peanut butter, candy, and even some medications and toothpaste!

Even tiny amounts can trigger a rapid insulin spike in dogs, leading to dangerous blood sugar crashes, seizures, liver failure, or worse. Since it's one of the most frequently used sweeteners, it’s easy to overlook but crucial to avoid when it comes to our pets.

Next time you grab a treat, read the label first—a few seconds of caution could save your pup’s life! Spread the word and help keep our furry friends safe. 🐾❤️

The Importance of Dental Care for Your Pet

Did you know that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of dental disease by the age of three? Proper dental care is essential not only for your pet’s teeth but for their overall health. Dental disease can lead to pain, tooth loss, and even serious conditions affecting the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Since many dental issues occur beneath the gumline, they cannot be detected just by looking at your pet’s teeth. That’s why yearly dental exams, including dental X-rays, are crucial for diagnosing hidden problems like root infections, bone loss, and periodontal disease. Routine cleanings and professional evaluations help prevent complications, ensuring your pet stays happy and healthy.

Prioritize your pet’s dental health—schedule a dental exam today! 🦷🐶🐱

Meet Chapo! 🐾

Chapo, a 7-month-old dachshund, visited us earlier this week for his neuter procedure, and he’s excited to share why neutering is so important!

Neutering has many benefits for both pets and their families, including:

Medical Benefits
Prevention of Testicular Cancer: Neutering eliminates the risk of this potentially life-threatening disease.
Reduced Risk of Prostate Issues: Neutered pets are less likely to experience prostate infections or enlargement.
Lower Incidence of Perianal Tumors: This common condition in unneutered males is significantly reduced.

Behavioral Benefits
Reduced Roaming: Neutering decreases the urge to wander in search of a mate, keeping pets safer at home.
Less Marking: Male dogs are less likely to mark territory indoors or outdoors.
Lower Aggression: Neutered pets often exhibit fewer aggressive behaviors driven by hormones.

Environmental Benefits
Decreasing Pet Overpopulation: Neutering prevents unplanned litters, reducing the number of homeless pets in shelters.
Supporting Community Health: Fewer stray animals mean fewer risks of disease transmission and environmental disturbances.

Neutering is a safe, routine procedure that helps improve your pet’s quality of life while supporting responsible pet ownership. If you have questions about neutering your furry companion, we’re here to help! Feel free to reach out to us anytime.

Chapo is feeling great after his procedure and is ready to enjoy a happy, healthy life! 🎉
