We have welcomed 24 foals so far this year here at Buena Vista Farm! Quite the mixture of breeds so far - Paint, Quarter Horse, Warmblood, Thoroughbred, and Friesian.

Breeding season has arrived in full force over the last few weeks. Besides foaling, we have been busy prepping mares to be bred, collecting and training new stallions, and breeding mares.

Also new to Buena Vista Farm this year is our recipient herd. We are offering embryo transfer services and have a limited number of recipient mares available this season. We also work with clients who have their own recipients to coordinate breeding donor mares and transfers to their recipients.

As we continue through the rest of the season, we have limited availability for foaling mares who are due in April, and full availability from May onwards. If your mare is coming due, please contact the office to reserve her a spot on our foaling list.

For questions regarding our services, price lists, or boarding please contact our office at 352-622-9100 or our Farm Manager, Kaitlyn Canton, at 352-425-8618.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Breeding season is right around the corner!

A few reminders for the coming weeks and months:

If you have an open mare you want to breed early this upcoming spring, she needs to be under lights starting December 1st! We offer board and management for open mares who need to be under lights.

This is also the time to start thinking about breeding soundness exams and pre-breeding necessities such as cultures, cytologies, and breeding contracts.

If you have a mare who is due to foal early in the year, start keeping a closer eye on her for any changes - especially to her udder. Remember those last vaccines given in the 10th month of pregnancy are very important for antibodies in the colostrum for the foal. Also be sure to check if your mare has a caslick that needs to be opened.

If you are planning on or are thinking about having your mare foal at Buena Vista Farm this upcoming season, please reach out now to reserve a spot for your mare. Spots are filling up quickly! We offer tours of our facility by appointment so you can see firsthand how we will care for your mare and her foal.

For questions or quotes, or to set up a tour, please contact our Farm Manager Kaitlyn Canton at 352-425-8618 or our Office at 352-622-9100.

We look forward to another wonderful season!
