There are times in your career when you question your worth. Is 50 years experience too many years on the job? Do you have more years to ride, train, teach? Are you still current? Will you sacrifice your training standards for a quick buck?
Why did I add “feeling positive” emoji for Jutta on this post?
Because Jutta’s answers boil down to: No…Yes…Yes…and No!
50 years of riding, training, and teaching means there is a wealth of learning, insights, sharing training methods, learning and teaching techniques that continue to make you a relevant and invaluable tool for riders, trainers, and the horses you elect to ride/train. The number of rides left in your body simply become more judicious, and you choose those rides to really make them count. And never, ever compromise your training standards for a quick buck. Take the journey with your horses and with your clients that will help make those partnerships grow, expand, and last! Not every combination is destined for the Olympics, but working toward your independent goals, your personal progress, your failures and successes are all teaching moments and invaluable to your personal equine journey!
