While Avonlea was back being taken care of by our vet team, I was able to slip over to the Ocala Dog shows. They happened to be only 10 minutes from our vet! I’m completely exhausted, but I was glad I got to see the Labs and cheer on our boy.

Gangster showed beautifully and brought home a second-place ribbon, despite being terribly out of coat right now! Very proud of him, and he’ll be back in the ring tomorrow. 💛

Lancelot will most likely make his appearance next weekend as his handler continues working on training and helping him get comfortable with this whole showing thing. Video below of how I found him today. He thinks the other dogs there showing are obviously there to play with him. Such a puppy still 🐾

Congratulations to all of today’s winners! Such a beautiful lineup of Labradors! it was a pleasure to watch them all! 🏆

Now time for Avonlea and I catch up on rest. 😴

Update on Avonlea ❤️ We are finally home after a very long night involving two different vets, hours of waiting, and lots of testing. She was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, also called acute hemorrhagic diarrhea syndrome, a sudden, severe intestinal episode that causes bloody diarrhea and can involve vomiting and rapid dehydration. One of the girls compared it to colitis in humans to help explain it, which is something we’re familiar with, but never have we experienced anything like this with our dogs. Thankfully, there was no uterine infection or bowel obstruction, which were our first concerns. We still don’t have clear answers about what caused this or why she became so sick. It could have been something she ate, something bacterial, or another trigger, we truly don’t know. Her treatment plan is antibiotics, anti-nausea medication, and, of course, plenty of fluids and rest and bland diet. I’m still nervous we don’t know what triggered this and she’s still pretty out of. Hoping tomorrow is better. Thank you to everyone praying! 🙏🏻

Please say a prayer for our Avonlea tonight. She wouldn’t eat today, and by tonight she was dumpy and not wanting to get up. We’re rushing her to the emergency vet now. I’m concerned it could be pyometra with how fast it came on and given her symptoms, but we won’t know until she’s evaluated. Please pray for her and the veterinary team that will be caring for her. I’m very worried!

Beaver at 10 months old! 🦫 He’s in that slightly awkward teenage stage, but I’m attaching a free stack so you can see that his conformation does not, in fact, resemble the Hunchback of Notre Dame. 😂❤️

The boys are getting show-ring ready for Ocala! 🐾 We’ve got dog shows on the calendar for the next three weekends in November, and then onto Orlando in December! 🤪 We’re excited to see how they do. Wish us luck! 🙏🏻💛

I’m a little late posting here, but happy birthday to our sweet Seymour!

I could brag on this boy forever. He is gentle, loving, patient, wicked smart, and so easygoing. Whether he’s surrounded by our children or simply following us through the day, he is happy just to be part of it all. His temperament is everything we could ask for, and we feel so blessed to call him ours.

One of the most rewarding things has been seeing those same beautiful qualities shine through in his puppies. He has produced some incredible therapy and service pups for us, and watching them grow up to bring comfort, companionship, and support to their families means more than I can put into words. Genetics help lay that foundation, and it’s so special to see pieces of the boy we love showing up in the next generation.

Happy birthday, Seymour. You are such a gift to our family. We love you, sweet boy!
