Oxbow’s II Fifth Element (Leeloo) progressing in her retrieve training. She is holding onto the pvc a little longer than before. I will continue to increase the duration. Eventually we will change training locations and retrieve objects. At this time, I still haven’t given the behavior a verbal cue. I will do that once she is more solid in the behavior. I am also giving her bigger rewards for better performance.

Oxbow’s II Fifth Element (Leeloo)

Rethought my strategy and changed criteria. This is second session with new criteria.
The goal is for her to put her mouth on it, keep it on it and stand calmly. Trying to approach the “hold” aspect of the retrieve as a station or target. Hoping I can increase duration with this concept.

Oxbow’s II Fifth Element (Leeloo):
The criteria for Leeloo has changed. She began picking up the pvc from the floor. Now we are shaping her behavior to take the pvc from my hand. Eventually it will be shaped for her to hold the pvc.
