We are in Astoria again with 4 cats for dentals, two cats for testing and Rabies vaccine, two tiny new intake kittens and Enzo.

Enzo had his sutures removed from his recent toe amputation and is cleared for "take off" 🤣 and scheduled for his double FHO surgery.
Surgery date is July 8th ! 🄳

It's a wonderful day to spend in Astoria! This might just be our new favorite clinic šŸ˜‰
This time Susie went with me and we are living it up l🤣

This is the sad reality of kittens born outside and to mothers no one cares for.
This is the reality of failing to spay and neuter your cats!
And despite loosing very likely one if not both eyes, this baby is one of the lucky ones. Because someone cared, picked her up and got help for her.
I have no statistics, but for one that's saved, how many are out there suffering right now? And THAT is what's the unbearable heartbreaking truth.
This little girl will go to the vet tomorrow. It looks to me one eye is already ruptured and will need to be removed, i am unsure about the other one. But..... maybe I'm wrong. Hopefully I'm wrong!
Got this little one started on antibiotics and eye ointment, warmth, food and some snuggles. Put a friend in the crate as well. One of my granddaughters stuffies 😁 🤫

Send some good vibes for this tiny babe!

Update - Foster found 😃

FOSTER NEEDED !!!!

I am looking for a short term foster to socialize this spicy family.
Mom is already eating Churus from me and lets me very carefully pet her while doing so.
The babes are hissy but should learn quickly, especially with mom being ahead of them.
We will provide everything needed, incl. cage, food, toys, Churus etc.

Please help us turn these littles into adoptable kittens.
They are beautiful and won't last long once they are friendly.
We are not separating them at this point, so you must be able to take the whole family.
Please reach out if you can help!

Please be aware that whoever is doing this has nothing to do with JustCare and we are not benefitting in any way!

🚨 IMMEDIATE RESCUE PLACEMENT NEEDED !! 🚨

Yesterday i posted about "making room for one more" and having to say "no".

This afternoon someone pulled into my driveway asking for help with these two dogs.
The story is complicated and what's important is, these dogs are at risk to be "put down". This means around here, shot.
I had the pups come out of the car so i could take a closer look and take some pictures.
They are obviously older dogs, but it is also very obvious they have a lot of life left. They were quite excited, VERY friendly, immediate tail wags and super sweet.
The female has several tumors and the male has some skin issues.
This is one of these situations unfortunatly where i do not see how i can help, other then trying my hardest to find rescue placement for them.
There is just no way to take on these two.
We are still working on the huskies, we have Enzo with his upcoming double hip surgery (and no foster in sight) and several other adoptable dogs here at the moment.
My ask is, please share this cute elderly dog couple in hopes someone or something comes together for them?
If anyone has or knows of a rescue able to help please reach out.
And, who knows, if you are privatly wanting to do some hands on rescue and have the resources, i have a feeling these two won't ask for much. However there will definetly be medical care needed.

Please reach out to us if you can help in any way.

And share share share!

"There is always room for one more"

Believe me when i say, most rescues are operated by humans with BIG hearts.
Probably to big for their own good! We all squeeze in the extra animal in need wherever possible.
One of the absolute hardest things in rescue work is saying no. I struggle with it on a daily basis. Sometimes you know animals are out of options but you simply cannot help. Often it stays with me for days and weeks.
But sadly the responsible thing to do is often to say no.
"It's just a kitten", especially with kittens! Small rescues do not have the facilities and man power to house and care for larger numbers of kittens. Having multiple litters from different locations and housing them even in the same room but in seperate kennels is risky.
It takes one kitten with Panleukopenia and you very likely loose most of them.
Kittens can look perfectly healthy today and at intake and be deadly sick three days later.
When a rescue tries to shame other rescues for saying no, and claiming "they never say no", to me this is not only wrong (each of us can only do so much!) but it is also beyond dangerous and questionable in my opinion.
So keep in mind when you reach out to any rescue organization, that most of us really really do want to help them all. But it is simply not possibly.

Some cute pictures from a few we were able to help just last week. And they are ADORABLE!!!

Be kind !

FOSTER NEEDED !!!!

Enzo is wanting a person!!!!
Heelers are people dogs and Enzo is also going thru a lot.
He lost his home and we do not know if someone simply dumped him on that rural road or what exactly happened. I have noticed he gets super excited when i start the old farm truck and if I'd let him he would jump in the bed. Was he someones farm dog? Did he jump out of a truck? Why did no one look for him? He was reported with Grays Harbor Animal control and they put him in the local paper three times. He has also been all over social media for over a week before he was hit and found injured on someone's property.
Enzo is a very young dog.
He loves everyone he meets and has been super easy going with the other dogs.
I would love to find him a foster at this point or better yet a foster to adopt. We are fully prepared to cover all his medical bills and treatments until he is fully recovered.
If someone is looking to meet Enzo and is possibly interested in adding this beautiful, sweet and very smart boy to his or her family, please reach out to me directly (360-470-3763 Sabine). I am fostering Enzo myself so far and he has been great inside my house. Despite his injuries and being on a lot of medications he has never had an accident.
He has to be confined in a playpen, because he cannot jump or run around.
Enzo will have surgery on both hips in the next few weeks and there will be a recovery period of several month. He will need extra care and someone with time to meet his needs. He will need physical therapy after surgery and will not be able to walk more then 5 minutes at a time several times a day. There will also be vet visits and visits to the rehab center in Olympia. His foster/adopter would have to be relatively local to the area.
JustCare will cover all costs and of course could also assist with appointments etc. if needed.
I know this is a lot but Enzo deserves the very best and he will make a full recovery.
Of course i could keep fostering him myself and i will if need be. Obviously.
However Enzo wants to be physically with me 24/7 if possible and i am very busy.
It is hard to make him happy and even when he is in the yard and he can see me he will cry. Of course he is a heeler and they follow their people around, which is currently not possible for him. So if i could find him a foster or foster to adopter who is already able to spend so much more time with him, he would be so much happier.

Please consider Enzo for foster or adopt and reach out for more information.
Enzo would also just love to meet you ā¤ļø
Because he looooooves visitors too!

Enzo had another vet appointment today and got to hang out with me at the thrift shop again.
His paw is healing wonderfully and he will not need another appointment until next Wednesday.
That's when the sutures are removed and his paw will be all done.
Then we can tackle his hips.
I will call the clinic tomorrow to find out about how soon he can have his FHO surgery.

Thank you, Gwen, for taking Enzo to his appointment today and the pup cup!
