This past week, we had beautiful weather, and the streams were abundant on the trails, which made for some excellent enrichment on our adventures! Millie, Chica, Goonie, Dori, and Nayla traversed them like pros and got some zoomies out 🐾
Our dogmobile is equipped to get the dogs dried off and cleaned up before drop off ✨️

April showers didn't rain on our parade! This month, our girls endured the mud and were rewarded with fresh flora and lots of sweet tall grass. In order to avoid overconsuming, we redirect the dogs with higher reward enrichment.

Two of our newest members, Nayla and Shakati, graduated from their training. We are so proud of them and love to see them bonding with the others on group adventures! We are also working on muzzle training with Goonie, and her progress has been phenomenal. Such good girls!

We've got another brilliant girl to introduce this week. We are thrilled to welcome Shakati to the Redwood Trails Family for group adventures! Shakati is a 9-year-old shepsky and the sister of Nayla. She is a sweet, gentle, goofy, and vocal lady. She loves to chase, roll, and play in the water and has gotten on swimmingly with the group Mama, Millie! She is integrating marvelously into a group, and we are thankful to have her.

Our roster keeps filling out with more gorgeous girlies! This week, we'd like to welcome Nayla to the Redwood Trails Family. Nayla is a 4-year-old Husky who is spunky, curious, independent, eager to please, and has a brilliant memory. She is joining us for training with a focus on building confidence and socialization around other dogs and improving her recall skills. She's been getting on fabulously with Goonie, and we're really looking forward to seeing her integrate into the group and go off leash with her newfound friends. Such a good girl, Nayla!

We had 5 of our girls out on the Mineral Springs Trail at the Tilden Regional Park, and they had an absolute blast! Dori and Olympia splashed around together, and many zoomies were had by the entire group. The girls are all continuing to exercise brilliant recall while they play and bond on the trails.

Our pack of girls has been expanding over the winter months! We are delighted to welcome Olympia to the Redwood Trails Family! Olympia is a 75lb, 1 yr old supermutt who is sweet, curious, friendly, playful, yet mellow and gentle. She is a huge fan of creeks and puddles and has been such a lovely addition to our group. We are so happy to have her!

February is spay and neuter awareness month, and we here at Redwood Trails would like to share why this annual observance is valuable for all pet owners. This month-long campaign encourages responsible pet ownership and aims to reduce the number of homeless animals by preventing overpopulation that can spread resources amongst our shelters to a thin and unsustainable level. Spaying and neutering not only benefit individual pets but also contribute to the overall well-being of communities and animal welfare. We encourage folks to do their research on the appropriate timeline for spaying or neutering their canine (or feline) companions and to adopt from shelters.
