First Wishing All Clients and Staff A Happy Easter and Passover. Just 10 days ago a pipe leak happened on the second floor and flooded out the top and bottom floor of the Oakland Park Animal Hospital. No animals or persons were hurt or in danger. Recovering from this mishap. Most equipment for the function of the animal hospital was thankfully saved. Telephone are working restoration's ongoing we a here to continue to help and support our clients and their pets . We did unfortunately lose our computer system but thankfully have written records still! We are actively working to get our server hard drive repaired but might take more time. Nevertheless Thankful for our blessings this holiday as we again are here to help and serve all be it any and all both current and future clients!

We are available for scheduling appointments. We have limited availability book early. Here is a couple that is getting a health certificate for travel. We do domestic and international travel health certificates. The criteria and preparations are numerous these days so schedule and appointment to accommodate the steps early. This is a public service announcement that this weekend cold snap is to be taken serious. This being said to be close to being actual freezing plus having a wind chill factor below as dangerous to the health of all our pets. Please bring in to your home for a limit time from outside. Exotic pets and shorthair pets that are sensitive to the cold weather are at risk. Extreme cold weather exposure can weaken their immune system.This could result in conditions like respiratory infections and cause physiological stresses that could make worst those pets with ongoing health issues either known or unknown! Dress warmly and or plan to stay indoors during this highly unusual freezing cold snap in our weather!

This is Colette a 9 year old spayed female GoldenDoodle here this week for her annual checkup and routine vaccines and parasite check . This is Turbo a male golden retriever with a history of a rash. Upon inspection he was very itchy and not a flea prevention and developed a skin sensitivity with red inflamed skin and self inflicted trauma which developed into a classic HOTSPOT. Stay tuned on how with medications and a cone to stop the self trauma works! This is a male 3year old French Bulldog named Hero that came into the Oakland Park Animal Hospital last week with a history of falling off the bed and limping afterwards on his right rear leg. So x-rays of swollen leg taken no fractures or dislocations seen. Obviously soft tissue swelling so medication prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds and pain medications also. Less than a day later the swelling burst with a fetid discharge and resulted in a diagnosis of abscess. Thankfully we did precautionary started on broad spectrum antibiotics and a week later swelling down 90% and no longer limping. The challenge of this case was the history of possible trauma when the cause was a minute snake bite on further history. Remember our patients can not talk and a veterinarian has to be a good detective! Call today for an examination to check on the current health of your pet.
