❤️🩹 Today is a tough one. ❤️🩹
Our sweet girl Madison, who we had hoped would be a mama for our program, is getting spayed this morning because she did not passing her hip testing.
We’re a little heartbroken — she has the most incredible temperament: gentle, loving, confident, and so human-focused. She’s never met a stranger, thrives in social settings, and is highly trainable.
She’s been our nanny to many litters, laying with the puppies early on and then playing with them through each stage of their development before they go home. Puppies from other mamas follow her around like she’s their mom. It is honestly so heartwarming every time I see it. The bond she has with them is so special and unique.
Our dogs are our pets first and foremost, and we will always make decisions that are best for their health. While we’re sad she’ll never have litters of her own, we have peace knowing she’ll still be a Mama in all the ways that matter.
Welcome to retirement sweet girl! We’re so proud of you. 🌸
