This is Lola. She was hit by a car on Christmas eve, and the driver never stopped. She had a severe spinal injury causing paralysis and we were in fear that she would never walk again. Her owners had to take her to a specialty hospital upstate because there were no neurologists on LI that night. She was hospitalized for 10 days. When she came home, Dr. Carter evaluated her and gave physical therapy and pain management recommendations. She is still going to PT at E. End, but is now walking, not on any meds, and is a happy girl!! Her owners never gave up on her and gave her a second chance. Congratulations to Lola and her family! ❤️ 💙 💜

Since its getting nice out, Lilo and Stitch had their exams outside on their front porch! They are getting vaccinated for lepto and lyme and getting flea and tick prevention. Leptospirosis is a disease spread by the urine of wild animals and lyme disease is spread by ticks. Both are common in our area and can be fatal. Please keep your pets up to date so they are protected for the summer!

I am excited to announce that Dr. Carter will now have a facility to hospitalize and perform surgeries! She will continue to do house calls, but if your pet requires a procedure or treatment, it can be done there! It's located right in Bayport! Thank you Carol's pet grooming and sanctuary ❤️

Lola needed stitches after running into something in the backyard while chasing squirrels! Dr. Carter sutured her up and her dad put a t-shirt on her so she wouldn't lick it. I think she slept well that night :)
