The sound of fireworks triggers an immediate flight response in many pets, which is why more pets go missing on July 4th than any other day. 💔

Meet Kate! 🕸️🕷️
She is our clinic pet, a Chilean Rose Tarantula (Grammosta rosea) They are known to be relatively friendly and docile. Their main defence mechanism is to flick small irritating hairs (urticating ahris) off of their abdomen with their hind limbs. Females can live over 20 years in captivity while males only live 5-10 years.
