YAY- Oak has his nueter appointment set for Thursday the 18th!
***Thanks to Carol McAlwaysright for not only sponsoring the 3 camp puppies but also scheduling, seeking grants, seeking vouchers....THANK YOU❤️

With that said....Oak needs a home ASAP! We have our home owners insurance inspection coming up in early June! We are NOT allowed to have pitbulls or any "aggressive breeds"🙄! We absolutely CANNOT lose our insurance! THIS is why I very rarely intake pitbulls!

Oak is a smart boy and an absolute tank! He loves people and is full of energy too. Oak would do best with a female doggie companion or an only dog. He does NOT do well in play group with any of the other males ( We have tried 4 other males, all were a NOPE). He currently gets play time with Willow (female) and does great!

Oak can be a bit of a "wild child" at times but with consistency in training ( my surgery nightmare has hindered much training😔), a knowledgeable handler, and a forever home with freedom to roam about or a job to do he will be a great companion and protector.

He will be fixed and UTD on all vaccines including Rabies. Located in Anderson/Happy Valley. Meet and greets are welcome but he will stay on-site until his nueter appointment!

**LOW adoption fee, home check, and NO CHILDREN- NO EXCEPTIONS! ALL potential homes will be screened THOROUGHLY. Due to his breed we will be very careful on where this guy goes and will require monthly updates and a contract.

PS- IF anyone else would like to sponsor a pup, this is who remains:
*spay: 1 female left needing spayed, small, under 40lbs
* nueter: 5 males left needing nuetered, 2 under 40lbs, 3 between 40-60lbs
PLEASE reach out! You would pay the vet of your choice directly! We ARE 501c3 now too!

1st picture: intake
2nd picture: approx 2 months ago
Will get updated pictures ASAP.

The puppies have graduated to outside! This helps tremendously! Much happier pups now too!

With that said, we do need a few things, especially with the weather changing. If anyone would like to help out I will list the items that we need here:

*Shavings- (5 bags for the initial lay, then 1-2 bags to add when needed) used to cover the bottom of the pens for easier clean-up, fly control, and cushioning.

*Shade covers- need 3-4 total. 1 for each pen

*Kiddy pools- puppies love to play in the water, especially when it gets warmer.

*Paper towels- still have kennels to keep clean incase they need to come back inside (weather wise).

*Misters- these work great to mount to each pen, helps keep them cooler.

*Hanging fly traps- keep the flies down/gone

We were notified about a dog in distress. I immediately reached out to Rocky Ranch Lynne Jensen as I am unable to assist and the dog needed IMMEDIATE help! With teamwork this dog, who had been running for so long, was caught yesterday!

This dog was found malnourished, showing weakness, having neurological problems, and was absolutely terrified at the site. Lynne drove from Anderson to the Ge**er area, helped set up a trap ( a local there had the trap (thank you)- along with the help of a couple locals) dropped some food and she was caught quickly. FYI, MOST heeler/ACD breeds will avoid traps at all times. She knew she needed help, she would have died out there.

It was pretty obvious she had been dumped. Over 100 ticks were pulled off in one sitting!! INSANE! She was also given a great, well balanced meal and some Red Cell for the anemia.

Lynne would like to get her into the vet tomorrow (Shingletown Vet) and could REALLY use some financial help! I have a few supplies i can share with her dog food, vaccine, dewormer...but we need to make sure this girl doesn't have Lyme Disease as she is still somewhat neurological. This disease can be DEADLY if not treated soon. Lynne made an appointment for tomorrow at Shingletown Vet.

Feel free to PM for ways to donate- TAX WRITE OFF! Donations can be made through our Venmo ( please label it "Ge**er Girl" , or call the vet directly to donate towards the vet cost. Lynne was estimated roughly $400 for the vet alone and will have another mouth to feed, supplies used, and time spent with yet another dumped dog. She jumped right into action! THANK YOU LYNNE ❤️TEAMWORK ❤️

GOAL: $400, Anything over the cost of the vet will be used to continue her care while at Lynn's house. Id imagine she still needs spayed as well 😕

WAYS to help: Venmo (Ge**er Girl in the comment), CashApp, PayPal, directly to the vet. DONATIONS ARE TAX WRITE OFFS❤️ Feel free to PM me. I can also give you her information if youd like to go through her directly as well.

Update on the Rabies:

I placed a call Thursday with Haven asking for the office manager to call me back to discuss how to make this possible without me being on site. No call back as of yet, so I will try again today. If that doesn't work I will call Animal Control directly to see if she can sort it out with the clinic itself.

Hoping to get this ball rolling soon!

List of pups:

I figured i would put a list up of all pups in rescue right now. I will mark each one once their Rabies has been sponsored and again if/when their transport is figured out.

I will be calling Haven to speak with them on how the clinic works and how to proceed on transport. I will update all of that on another post once information is gathered. We are currently looking at $25-$40 for each puppy depending on which clinic we can utilize.

* Oak - 🐶Sponsored/transport found
* Willow - 🐶Sponsored/transport found
* Brick -
* McQueen -
* Soldier (SoSo) -
* Auggy -
* Rugar -
* Ace -

Thank you ALL for the continued prayers, shares, and support. These pups are alive because of all of YOU! ❤️

The big "Doodle debacle" 😂

Brick & McQueen (1 boy and 1 girl)

We received these 2 under the impression they were Doodle x Border Collie mixes. We then later received information that they were Rat Terrier x Border Collie. Unfortunately, in rescue, we rarely get the truth and breeds are just our best guesses by the information provided, or non-existent information all together. These 2 currently carry a "doodle-like" coat and personality.

With the whole "Doodle" explosion and the "want" for "Doodles" we had quite a bit of interest in the beginning, but it unfortunately dwindled down without the guarantee they were in fact "doodles". I use the term "Doodles" lightly because a "true doodle" is actually a MIXED BREED in itself.

To settle this debacle we have ordered a DNA kit that should arrive today. We will do the kit, send it off, and FINALLY have the exact results of what these 2 ADORABLE pups really are in hopes a forever home will step up!

The results can take up to two weeks to receive so we will eagerly wait for those and post them once we have them. In the meantime, if you could share them out, we can hopefully find some potential adopters! Hoping to get better, more updated, pictures soon as these babies are growing. I will post their intake pictures here with a little information. Both of their coats have grown out and have MUCH MORE "curl" to them.

*EDIT/UPDATE- We will definitely look into Haven's clinic at $25 instead of the $40. Volunteers for transport would be absolutely amazing. With mom's colostomy bag it is hard for her to transfer to/from crates.
Carol McAlwaysright has graciously offered to handle Oak and Willow (the 2 remaining camp puppies)❤️ that leaves 6 others!

Hi friends/family/villiage!

Out of the hospital and time to get back on track!

RABBIES VACCINES!

Every pup here is now old enough to receive the Rabies Vaccine!

Truth be told, we were educated by the animal control visit (before my surgery disaster started) on how much different CA is from TN (where I had privately rescued before)! TN is 6 months of age where CA is 4 months, thus requiring us to legally get everyone here up to date sooner than I ( yes, 100% my mistake) had anticipated. For his I am truly sorry to spring on everyone! I should have educated myself specifically for CA and have been since doing so.

With that said, here is our situation:

8 pups on the rescue side needing Rabies vaccines. Each Rabies is $40 at the Tractor Supply Clinics ( much cheaper than our vets 🤯). That is $320 in total in a short amount of time ( adequate time given by AC, my hospital stays are what dug into it). We have until June 6th to have everyone updated.

$320 is very reasonable and doesn't sound like alot, however we also have our personal dogs here that are being required to get updated (100% my fault for falling behind) costing us another good size chunk. I AM NOT asking and never have asked for any help/assistance with our personal crew.

LONG story short, if anyone would like to sponsor a pup to get their Rabies vaccine it would help TREMENDOUSLY right now. Also, any volunteers to help on clinic days would be greatly appreciated as my mom is still limited on her lifting capabilities (colostomy bag). It would consist of loading/unloading pups into/out of crates to travel and at the clinic.

Changes are being made, education is being taken seriously, and we will continue saving lives (still at a NO INTAKE status until the pups here find homes)!

I also want to say THANK YOU to this awesome villiage for sticking by us, having faith we are here for the RIGHT REASONS, and the continuous support and uplifting kindness you have shown. These 8 pups are alive because of all of YOU!

Thank you Kelley Grandell l, Liberty Tax, and all the wonderful donors who participated to help support our cause here at Diamonds in the Rough Rescue! You are all very much appreciated ❤️

Kelley and her boys delivered 10 large bags of dog food, 1 bag of goat or pig food ( I am not quite sure which one yet but either one is greatly appreciated), and 3 beautiful bales of hay will be arriving tomorrow or Monday!

Didn't get a picture of it all as I was not there at drop off but they did send me a picture about 1/2 way through unloading.

These kind gestures sure do lift the spirit and reduce my stress load right now. The team and animals thank you all from our whole hearts!

‼️EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY ‼️

Unfortunately due to no follow through from others (under agreements) we have had to make the hard decision to change some of our policies. Which, in all honesty SUCKS but I feel is necessary!

That change now includes the following:

We will NO LONGER be involved in "holds" such as:
* Holding "temporarily" for another "rescue/rescue person"
* Holding for other rescues that were supposed to be transferred within 24hrs.
* Holding "overnighters" that were supposed to be transfered.

We will also NO LONGER accept "extra", or "make temporary room" for pups/kittens/etc with the promise of spay/neuter as part of the conditions of the hold due to NO FOLLOW THROUGH!

This was NOT an easy decision as trust was given and we, and our kindness, were being taken advantage of. I will NOT allow it to happen again.

The WORST part?! The ANIMALS are the ones who will suffer because of this, because humans can't FOLLOW THROUGH. I don't understand it. When I give you my word that I am going to do something....you can take that to the bank.

No more games, no more extending a hand to other rescues, no more of our kindness being taken advantage of. We will go back to how we did things before.

We are still here for the animals! We will still help where we can, when we can, and how we can. Don't be afraid to reach out. We are here to help our fellow community and the animals. We just will NOT be partnering or "making space" due to lack of follow through.

I sincerely apologize it has came to this but it has. Very disheartening as I always believe Team Work is the best way to go. Just need to find a better team.

Thank you to ALL of you who DO support us and help❤️.
