Here’s a rundown of what you need to know about canine mast cell tumors (MCTs):

💡MCTs are a common malignant tumor in dogs accounting for about 20% of canine skin cancer
💡These tumors often present as a lump or bump on the skin
💡There can be swelling or redness around the tumor
💡Itching is a common symptom
💡Early detection is crucial for optimal treatment

If you notice a lump or bump on your dog, bring them into our clinic for a no needle, 40-second scan with our HT Vista device. We can quickly determine if the mass is benign or requires further testing. In MCTs case- early detection saves lives!!

Many dogs develop lumps and bumps that are not cancerous, for example:

🟢 Lipomas: Fatty tumors that are soft, movable, and usually harmless. Common in older dogs.
🟠 Sebaceous Cysts: Blocked oil glands that form small, firm bumps filled with sebum.
🟣 Histiocytomas: Raised, red bumps that often appear suddenly, particularly in younger dogs.
🔵 Warts (Papillomas): Caused by a virus, these small, cauliflower-like growths are typically seen in younger or immune-compromised dogs.

💡 While many lumps are harmless, it's always best to have them checked. Our clinic offers cancer screenings with the HT Vista device to determine if a lump is benign or needs further testing — all in just 40 seconds with a pain-free, needle-free scan!

From adorable pup-created masterpieces to great conversations with our Dr. Katie Wexler, it was the perfect mix of creativity, community, and fun. Thank you to everyone who came out (and brought their furry artists along)!
