If you want to know how my week went...
Duke got into a disagreement with a skunk last Sunday night. We were a little anxious at first because he was drooling excessively and could barely keep his eyes open, but once we did the home remedy (baking soda, peroxide, Dawn dish soap) and let it sit, then gave him a bath to rinse off; he brightened up a little and the drooling stopped. π¬
I had a dog visit that night, so after giving my pup a bath, I went off to complete my visit. Arrived back home, ordered a new harness, glow collar, skunk shampoo and fabric cleaner, and threw away all of the old stuff (to include one of his crib mattress beds).
Thankfully, Monday morning I got a response from his groomer, and they were able to squeeze him in for a Skunk shampoo bath (w/ nail trim and ear cleaning) on Tuesday. Also, Tuesday, the skunk shampoo/conditioner, face foam, and fabric cleaner, arrived in the mail, along with his new harness and glow collar. I think he did it on purpose to get all new things (and I spoiled him with a couple of new leashes).
It has been a week. His head still smells a bit like skunk, primarily around the ears, but we've managed to mostly air out the house, and he's doing much better. We are probably about 90% no skunk smell in the house and on Duke. π
**I appreciate all of my clients from last week. I know the skunk issue had me late to a visit, and I had to rearrange a couple of walks, but I want you to know I had a nice, long talk with Duke about how we don't play with skunks. I can't promise he feels any remorse, though, and he will most definitely do it again. π
***Enjoy the little clip of Duke participating in one of his favorite activities....barking at a rock like it owes him money. π€£
