Luigi
It is with a heavy heart we send this email regarding our beloved Luigi who passed away today during emergency surgery. He suffered a rupture in his small intestine due to a blockage from either cancer or a disease called idiopathic muscular hypertrophy.
He began to show signs of discomfort late morning, May 26. Vets were called to the property to nurse him in the field, and it was necessary to transport him immediately to the hospital for further treatment.
Sadly, there was nothing more the surgical team could do and Luigi passed over the rainbow 🌈bridge.
We are deeply saddened by this sudden event and we are in shock that we will not see him frolicking on our Getner Barn property and enjoying all the students and volunteers who loved and cared for him during his time with us.
We know he was loved by all of you. We will miss him tremendously and dearly with all our hearts.

Today, Kathi’s husband, Richard Fletcher, was the recipient of an award from the mayor honoring Kathi and all of her great contributions to the city of Norwalk with providing horseback riding to all of the youth through her wonderful scholarship program, “Wishes for horses”.

For those of you who knew Danny Reilly, the owner of the former All The King's Horses store in Ridgefield , CT, we sadly announce his passing this morning. He was very special to all of us here at Getner Barn. Danny's wake will take place on Tuesday, September 16 from 5-7 pm, at Magner funeral home. A mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17 at 10 am St. Philips Church, Norwalk, CT.
