15 pets still need foster homes before tomorrow at 3 PM, or we will have to turn away animals who have nowhere else to go. Every face in this graphic is a life we are fighting to say “yes” to.

Our transport from an overcrowded Oklahoma shelter arrives Saturday, and unless foster homes step up now, we cannot save them all.

Misty did everything right.

She kept her puppies alive on the street, finding whatever scraps she could and curling her body around them at night to keep them warm. When they were finally found, she let rescuers scoop them up without hesitation — as long as she could keep them in sight. She raised them. She weaned them. She made sure they were safe.

Now her puppies are ready for their new lives… and Misty is finally allowed to think about her own.

She’s gentle, calm, and unbelievably sweet for a dog who’s had to survive so much. She’s also heartworm positive — something completely treatable once she’s in a stable foster home.

But here’s the part that hurts:
If we don’t secure a foster for Misty by Friday, 6/19 at 3pm, RMPR will have to cut down the number of pets we can bring to Colorado from the overcrowded Oklahoma shelter.

Misty has done her part.
Now she just needs someone to give her a safe place to rest while she heals.

Her person passed away, and with no family able to take her, she went from a warm home to a crowded Oklahoma shelter overnight. She still waits by the door, listening for footsteps that won’t return.

Zoey is gentle, loyal, and heartbreakingly confused - and she’s not alone.

She’s one of over 20 dogs and cats who need foster homes by Friday evening, or RMPR can’t pull them from the overcrowded kill shelter they’re in.

Zoey deserves a soft place to land.

Tanya didn’t understand why her world suddenly disappeared.

One week she was snoozing on the couch beside her little human, following him from room to room like a shadow… and the next, everything was in boxes. Voices were tense. Doors slammed. And then she was gone — handed off during a messy divorce, left behind when the house was lost in a foreclosure neither she nor her child could stop.

At just 18 months old, Tanya has already lost her family, her routine, and the boy she adored.

She spent her first night in the shelter crying — not barking, not pacing… just quietly waiting for someone she knew to come back.

No one did.

Shelters in the area are overcrowded, and Tanya is out of time. We said yes to saving her, and she’s coming to Colorado — but she must have a foster home by Friday or she has nowhere safe to land.

She’s gentle. She’s confused. She’s trying so hard to be brave.

She just needs a soft place to rest while her heart catches up.

Magpie and Nelle didn’t understand why the world suddenly got so loud.
One day they were curled up together in a quiet corner of a home... and the next, they were in
an overcrowded Oklahoma shelter, pressed against each other as the noise and smell of fear
filled the air. They’re a bonded pair - two purebred labradoodle sisters who have only ever
known life together. And together is how they survived the days that followed.
But overcrowding doesn’t wait for love or loyalty.
Last week, their names were added to the shelter’s kill list - not because they were sick, not
because they were unsafe... simply because there wasn’t enough room.
Two gentle, adult doodles. Scheduled to die for lack of space.
A volunteer saw them curled around each other and refused to let that be their ending. She
reached out, we said yes, and now Magpie and Nelle are on their way to Colorado - arriving this
Saturday at Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue.
And they’re not alone.
They’re coming with puppies, kittens, and adult cats who all need a soft place to land.
We desperately need fosters.

For the dozens of little lives traveling with them.
