ATKHER was started in May of 2010 and Incorporated in June of 2010. We are dedica...ted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of equines in need; assisting equines in situations of neglect, abuse or threat of slaughter. To educate the public regarding the standards of care required to maintain an equine as a riding partner and/or companion animal in a humane manner.

6. Can I visit ATKHER? Yes, you are allowed to visit ATKHER by appointment only. This is a privately owned property and I ask you respect the owners of the land. You may schedule an appointment by emailing me at [email protected]

7. Does ATKHER accept volunteers? Yes, we accept volunteers to do a variety of chores from, cleaning, feeding, grooming, riding, wound management, and etc. Horse experience is not necessary, and we will train and educate those on equine management. We will also allow local schools to visit our program.

8. How do I adopt an equine from ATKHER? ATKHER requires a signed adoption application and contract. We require a Veterinarian, farrier, and three personal references. We contact all references, and will do a home visit. We ask you to visit the farm to meet your potential equine partner. We will assess to find the most appropriate home and make lessons available for those and their potential new family member. Please e-mail to request a copy of the adoption form and contract. 9. How can I foster for ATKHER? ATKHER accepts foster homes with a signed Foster care agreement. We require a Veterinarian and Farrier reference. We also do a site visit to ensure proper facilities for our equines in our care.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, and father figures. A big shout out to my dad. This picture is of my dad and Buddy (Easter Guardian) when we saved him 16 years ago. I wrote "it definitely shows someone above is looking after him." He was actually looking after them both. I am so blessed to still have Buddy and my dad ❤️

Look how wonderful Tater did at our event yesterday. Tater just turned 1 in May. He came to us wild from the Double Devil wild horse corrals. He will be available for adoption shortly ❤️

We are so excited for our event tomorrow. The weather looks absolutely fantastic. Tomorrow we will be hosting the North Branford community welfare day. This day is to honor all the North Branford animal welfare non profits. These are the organizations that work tirelessly to serve the most at-risk populations.

We are grateful to put on this day of education. The event is FREE and there will be an amazing wood fire pizza truck, Smoking Mirrors Pizza .

I heard Water and Webs will have a fun duck pond game, Branford Compassion Club will have a prize wheel, and Donna's famous catnip chickens, we will have some awesome raffles, and great rescue gear. Our Tack shop will also be open!!!

Farrier day was yesterday. Baby Max is now a pro. Loki did wonderful, and Louie made sure nothing bad happened to his bestie, Harley. Louie likes to oversee everything done to Harley and ensure he is the muscle in any situation.

Two weeks post adoption and our boy is now bougie. His momma Jess stated "Ablo wasn’t sure about the stall fan at first. The noise was suspicious, the wind was suspicious, and frankly everything was suspicious. But after enough hot days and fly attacks, he’s now standing in front of it like he pays the electric bill himself." She even said he will ask to come in during the middle of the day for his fan 🤣

We are so sorry to have neglected him from fan life. We are so happy he's getting the specialized attention he deserves in his forever home 💕

Please share our event on Saturday!

North Branford/Northford is a small town with a huge heart. Did you know the town has 4 animal welfare Non Profit organizations? These organizations consist of All the Kings Horses Equine Rescue, The Greater New Haven Cat project, Branford Compassion Club, and Water N Webs.

Join us on June 20th to meet all these great organizations at one place. This will be a day of education and animal adoptions. Every organization will have educational material, along with merchandise to support their efforts.

There will also be a food truck, Smokin Mirrors Pizza and did I mention the event is FREE!
