ATKHER was started in May of 2010 and Incorporated in June of 2010. We are dedica...ted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of equines in need; assisting equines in situations of neglect, abuse or threat of slaughter. To educate the public regarding the standards of care required to maintain an equine as a riding partner and/or companion animal in a humane manner.

6. Can I visit ATKHER? Yes, you are allowed to visit ATKHER by appointment only. This is a privately owned property and I ask you respect the owners of the land. You may schedule an appointment by emailing me at [email protected]

7. Does ATKHER accept volunteers? Yes, we accept volunteers to do a variety of chores from, cleaning, feeding, grooming, riding, wound management, and etc. Horse experience is not necessary, and we will train and educate those on equine management. We will also allow local schools to visit our program.

8. How do I adopt an equine from ATKHER? ATKHER requires a signed adoption application and contract. We require a Veterinarian, farrier, and three personal references. We contact all references, and will do a home visit. We ask you to visit the farm to meet your potential equine partner. We will assess to find the most appropriate home and make lessons available for those and their potential new family member. Please e-mail to request a copy of the adoption form and contract. 9. How can I foster for ATKHER? ATKHER accepts foster homes with a signed Foster care agreement. We require a Veterinarian and Farrier reference. We also do a site visit to ensure proper facilities for our equines in our care.

Max graduated to the big paddock with Ablo. Max is a 2 year old Devils Garden CA mustang who came to us wild from the Double Devil wild horse corrals. He showed us that he is easy to catch in a larger area and he played nicely with his buddy Ablo. Max is a fun horse who is goofy and sweet. Max is looking for his forever home. Updated pictures of handsome Chili. Chili and Bob were the first two Devils Garden CA mustangs we took in from the 2018 roundup. He was the start of a great partnership with the USFS and we have since taken in around 25 mustangs from the Double Devil wild horse corrals.

Thank you to Virginia, Chilis momma who has been so committed and amazing to him. You're a great mom!

It's such a pleasure to see this little guy waiting at the fence for dinner. Nicholas (on the left) is seen here with his buddy Tater. Nicholas still has pain and spends most of his time resting however he is making progress. Just to have the sun on his face, moving outside, equine companions, and getting to be a real pony is a blessing.
