SUCH BU****IT!!!!! There are LAWS against this! What good are laws if they are not upheld. The neighbors care more about this dog than the owners do!
ALERT: Thanks for all the concern for this poor dog. While this is a heartbreaking situation, all the public posting of the owner's personal information is turning him into a victim! He has had to take his phone off the hook due to harassing calls and now has a police presence outside his house due to public threats against him (which is actually a good thing as he now has authorities watching his house and dog). But we do not want him to turn the story back on hysterical pet lovers overreacting! Let's work peacefully to fix laws and this situation.
UPDATED UPDATE: Good news... dog was checked by vet and given a healthy report. Bad news... owner went and got dog back. We did the best we could.
UPDATE: I just went by house and found dog outside again! Called Cook County Sheriff and Animal Control and while waiting for them to arrive witnessed owner pulling in his driveway! I have no idea how long dog was left outside but this time Animal Control took possession of the dog! Thanks to Diane Brainerd and her caring neighbors for bringing this to everyone's attention.
PLEASE SHARE! Sadly.. I posted about a new law in Illinois that now protects animals from being left out in extreme weather. Apparently no one has informed the Cook County Sheriff Department. This dogs was left out almost all day yesterday in unincorporated Northbrook. Cook County Animal Control was called by concerned neighbors. They came out, owner was not home, so they slapped a warning on his door and left the dog outside with an air temp of 0 degrees. Neighbors then calls Cook County Sheriff. One neighbor offered to take dog. Sheriffs came out and owner returned home while they were there. After 45 minutes of discussion, owner thru rope around dog's neck and brought him in. Neighbors were told if they see dog outside again to call 911 and they will remove dog. Dog outside limping this morning. Neighbors call Sheriffs who come out and issue another warning. It is -50 degrees outside!! Really??? Why even have a law on the books if the Sheriff will not enforce it. Now the owner has put No Trespassing signs all over his yard and neighbors were told if they attempt to check on dog THEY will be arrested!!! Please share this post and lets raise some awareness for animals who are being abused!!!
