☀️ A SUNNY DAY OUT WITH SONNY! 🐾❤️

Our sweet boy Sonny recently enjoyed a Dog Day Out with an amazing volunteer, and let's just say… he understood the assignment! 🥹

Sonny is a curious, affectionate boy who LOVES exploring the world around him! His nose was working overtime as he investigated every new smell, sight, and sound. He was so excited to be out and about that he even wanted to jog a little, despite having a slight limp!

🦆 One of the highlights of his adventure? Sonny caught the scent of some ducks, immediately turned around to investigate, and proudly discovered a duck feather! A true detective at work. 🔎

Of course, no adventure is complete without a pup cup, which Sonny absolutely LOVED. 🍦🐶

But as much as Sonny enjoys exploring, his favorite place might just be right next to his person. ❤️ He settled into the car almost immediately and spent the ride trying to rest his paws and head on his volunteer's lap. Talk about a cuddle bug!

Sonny is the perfect combination of adventure buddy and affectionate best friend. He wants to explore the world, sniff all the smells, and then curl up as close to you as possible.

🥹 The only thing missing from Sonny's adventures? A forever family to share them with.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteer Kate for giving Sonny such a special day and showing us just how much love this sweet boy has to give!

🐾 MEET ARCHIBALD MCFLUFFERNUTTER! 🐾

Yes, you read that right. ARCHIBALD. MCFLUFFERNUTTER. And somehow, his personality is even cuter than his name. 🥹❤️

This 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy is a certified sweetie angel pie, professional heart-melter, and full-time adorable little gentleman. 🥧✨

Archibald McFluffernutter is everything we love about puppies wrapped up in one ridiculously cute, fluffy package. He's sweet, lovable, and ready to find a family who will love him just as much as we already do!

Because honestly, who wouldn't want to tell people they have a dog named ARCHIBALD MCFLUFFERNUTTER?! 😭

🚨 SOS! WE DESPERATELY NEED NEBULIZERS! 🚨🐶

The respiratory infections just keep coming, and our supply of nebulizers can't keep up! 😭

At Border Tails Rescue, we're constantly taking in dogs battling upper respiratory infections (URIs), and many of them need nebulizer treatments as part of their veterinary care to help them recover.

The problem? We simply don't have enough nebulizers to go around!

We use these machines both in our shelter AND send them home with our incredible foster families so dogs can continue receiving their prescribed treatments in the comfort of a home. ❤️

And with the number of sick dogs we're caring for, we're running out FAST.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP! 🛒

🐾 DONATE A NEBULIZER: Have an old nebulizer sitting in a closet collecting dust? WE WANT IT! Human and children's nebulizers are welcome, too! New or gently used, as long as they're in working condition. We'll inspect and appropriately clean donated equipment before use.

🐾 DO YOU HAVE EXTRA FLEA/TICK OR HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVES? WE NEED THEM! 🐾

At Border Tails Rescue, we care for hundreds of dogs, and keeping them protected from fleas, ticks, and heartworm disease is a HUGE part of keeping them healthy! ❤️

Unfortunately, preventatives are incredibly expensive, especially when you're caring for as many dogs as we do.

💊 If you have any unused flea/tick or heartworm preventatives sitting at home, PLEASE consider donating them to our rescue!

Maybe your dog switched brands, changed weight classes, or you simply have extra doses you no longer need. Those preventatives could make a huge difference for a dog in our care!

We are looking for:

🐾 Heartworm preventatives
🐾 All brands and weight ranges!

We ask that all donated medications be unexpired and in their original packaging so our medical team can safely review and use them.

Every single dose donated helps us protect another rescue dog and allows us to put more of our funds toward lifesaving medical care.

🚨 GEORGIA IS LOSING WEIGHT… AND NOW SHE NEEDS MORE FOOD! 🚨😂

Yes, you read that correctly. Our formerly VERY chunky girl is officially making progress on her weight-loss journey, and we need your help keeping it going! 🐾❤️

When Georgia first came to us, she weighed a whopping 75.6 POUNDS. 😭 Her obesity was putting unnecessary stress on her joints and body, and we knew we needed to help her get healthier.

Thanks to her dedicated foster family, our veterinary team, and a carefully managed diet, Georgia has been slowly but surely shedding those extra pounds!

📉 GEORGIA'S WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY:

🐾 Starting weight: 75.6 lbs
🐾 June 21: 73 lbs
🐾 July 3: 70 lbs
🐾 August 9: 69.4 lbs
🐾 September 12: 68 lbs
🐾 October 14: 66.8 LBS!!!

THAT'S 8.8 POUNDS GONE! 🎉👏

That's more than 11% of her starting body weight, and we are SO proud of her!

But Georgia's journey isn't over yet. She still has weight to lose, and her prescription weight-management food is an important part of keeping her on track.

Unfortunately, this food isn't cheap, and Georgia needs to stay on her carefully managed diet to continue making progress.

These six amazing pups might be missing a leg, but they certainly aren't missing any love, personality, or determination!

One of the biggest misconceptions about tripod dogs is that they're somehow less capable of living happy, fulfilling lives. But these pups are here to prove otherwise!

Tripod dogs can run, play, snuggle, explore, and enjoy life just like their four-legged friends. They may need a few adjustments or accommodations along the way, but having three legs doesn't mean having less of a life.

At Border Tails Rescue, we believe every dog deserves a chance, regardless of their medical history, physical differences, or the challenges they've faced.

Please don't overlook a dog just because they're missing a leg. Sometimes the dogs who look a little different have the biggest personalities and the most love to give. ❤️

🍼🐾 FOSTER NEEDED: MOMMA & HER 5 BABIES! ❤️

When these five puppies were just ONE DAY OLD, they arrived at Border Tails Rescue from Chicago Animal Care and Control with their sweet momma!

Our amazing Medical Director has been caring for this little family in the interim, but they're officially ready for their next foster home! 🏡

Momma is an absolute sweetheart and basically SUPERGLUE. 😂 She's glued to her puppies when she's with them and glued to her humans when she's not! She's a devoted, protective mom, a little scared of the outdoors, but incredibly loving.

Her five babies (4 boys and 1 girl!) are all nursing well, gaining weight, and thriving! They've even been named after characters from The Great Escape! 🎬

❤️ We need a foster willing to give this family a quiet, safe place to grow! Momma is doing an amazing job, and we'll provide the supplies, food, and veterinary care.
