The past 8 months have been a bit chaotic as we get used to our new home in New England. The constants have been these three: Ch Thunder, Solo and Raven. We are currently relaxing on the couch watching the morning news and drinking a cup of coffee. Well, I am drinking the coffee and they are just napping. Lol

I toy with entering a dog show here but I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet. I am enjoying my three companions immensely. I tend to do things 110% and I am not sure that I can just dip my toes in the dog show world.

We wouldn't have great Sheltie companions if it weren't for breeders who care about the Sheltie standard and breed to produce the best shelties in not only looks but also temperament and health. And we also wouldn't have great Sheltie companions if it weren't for the wonderful homes where we can place puppies and retiring adults.

As I look at 2023, I am not sure if I will be posting here much or not. But I just wanted to give a little update. All is well. There are struggles and worries and all of that in this life, but at the end of the day I feel incredibly blessed to be where I am.

It's been a long while since I've posted anything here to Wildwest Shelties. I have taken the past two years to do some reflecting on my own life with dogs, the role they play, the joy they give, and how I have been able to bring something so special to others. It has been a labor of love.

There have been some sorrows mixed in along the way. I took a break from it all after some especially difficult times that puppies can bring, and I just don't feel "fixed" yet. In fact, I feel that my time in active competition and breeding are over.

I have what is very likely my last litter on the ground after well over a year away from having puppies, and it just sort of confirms the decision.

I have placed a few dogs over the last year or two and have a few more adults that I will be placing over the next couple of months as Wildwest Shelties slims down to just ... my companions ... and make a move East later in 2022.

Maybe once settled in a new location I will start doing some training to enter shows again, and maybe I will just be strolling the neighborhood with my precious poochies. Who knows what the future holds? I just know that as I look back on my 20 years in Shelties, I can honestly say Shelties truly are an extraordinary breed and so are their owners. Bless you all in 2022!
