Just a super good dog at the farmers market here!
What's good dog etiquette at a farmers market?
🐾Try to get your dog to potty before entering.
🐾Not allowing your dog to go up to other dogs (or people) uninvited.
🐾Not allowing your dog to p*e, touch sniff, push into, or jump on booths/displays, especially those with food.
🐾Keep your dog under control, do not allow your dog to be wondering or pulling on their leash out of arms reach. This is respectful of others and their property.
🐾It's okay to tell people no to petting your dog or allowing their dog to say hi. Allowing everyone and everything to say hi to your dog is not good socialization. Your dog knowing when it's ok to chill, when it's ok to say hi, and when they need to focus on you is.
🐾Don't forget to treat your pup for being a good dog!!!!
🐾If it's hot, make sure your dog gets a break in the shade, water, or a frozen treat ☺️
🐾Dogs can easily get over stimulated at farmers markets for many different reason and this looks different on every dog. Do not fail your dog by making them become so over stimulated they shut down, can't focus, or simply are no longer enjoying it. It's ok to find a spot to take a break that's less loud or less crowded. It's also okay if your dog doesn't enjoy farmers markets they don't need to go 😁
-Reminder for humans, please ask to pet a dog and allow the handler to respond and respect their response!
Don't forget each dog is an individual and you are the person who needs to advocate for them!
