Camp Louis Ernst Transferred to Another Non-profit Organization
Our council has been challenged for decades to make the necessary investments in Camp Louis Ernst (CLE), located in Dupont, Indiana. For a few years, we have been working to ramp up the Friends of Camp Louis Ernst, a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, to take over the property. This week the Jefferson County Court approved a deed transfer for the camp to this new group. They will focus upon restoring the camp for use by area youth groups, including Scouting.
Those interested in reserving space at CLE moving forward, should make connection with the Friends of CLE via their page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083271501754
Our Mission:
-To preserve, maintain and improve the camp and its natural setting.
-To work in cooperation with the Hoosier Trails Council BSA Board of Directors to promote a safe and positive camping experience for Boy Scouts and other youth groups of Southeast Indiana while educating these groups to the virtues and moralities of the scout oath.
-Restore existing amenities including hiking trails, buildings and wetlands while providing educational programming focused on nature, scouting and outdoors.
-To provide a place for youth groups to come together, creating positive memories and lasting friendships.
