A few weeks ago, I was able to make a quick trip to Montana and deliver some taxidermy. This time, Bowen was able to make the trip and see why I love Montana so much. We were spoiled by some amazing friends like they always do when I can make the trip. thank you for everything. We were able to spend a day fishing, and Bowen was able to learn so much. 1st 3 fish were caught on a fly rod, which he had never done before. He switched to a rapala and just started catching a bunch. He even wanted to try netting fish for us. It was truly a perfect day on the water. Bowen caught his best at 21" rainbow, and I had the big fish of the day at 24". Bowen was set on keeping 1 to eat, so we kept 1 of the small ones.
It was really cool for me to watch Bowen take such an interest in learning everything he could from Josh the entire day. Fly fishing and netting fish, cleaning fish, all the way to cooking it. He learned how to chop wood with an axe and was really focused on how to start a fire by flint and steel. This is the 1st time Bowen has met my friends since he was a baby and he couldn't help but say how amazing they treated him and that they are like family with only knowing him for a day. We were able to have breakfast with my dad before we had to make the drive back. Lot of time in the car with Bowen for a short stay, but it was worth it.
Amazing places. Amazing food. Amazing friends and family. These are things that make life worth it. Im so blessed to have had that weekend with Bowen.
