ATTENTION HORSE RESCUES

Hi! As manager of the grant department here at Horse Plus Humane Society, I wanted to reach out to you personally- a fellow horse rescuer, working to make the world a better place- and share with you some exciting news that could benefit your work in the horse rescue world!

At the beginning of this year, Horse Plus Humane Society launched its brand new National Safety Net Program, which is actively providing grants and financial assistance to both nonprofits and private horse owners - helping to rescue, shelter, and protect horses across America. We have several grant opportunities that can apply to a variety of circumstances and we would love to assist your organization, if our grant programs could be of any assistance!

As a result of this program, in the past six months alone, nearly 500 horses, 75 nonprofit organizations, and dozens of private horse owners across the country have benefited from the funds available. We know the need in this country is still great, though, and so I wanted to reach out and spread the word to you personally. Whether your organization could benefit from our National Safety Net Program and the grant opportunities it provides, or you simply share the news within your sphere of influence, we would love to assist you in the mutual effort to help America’s horses. Below is a short description of each of the grants we currently have available.

▪️Urgent Need Grants
The Urgent Need grant was created for non-profit organizations who have an urgent need that directly impacts the welfare of horses. It is intended to be utilized in a variety of circumstances to directly benefit horses in need, whether that be an individual horse or a herd. Applicants may apply for this grant at any time and the grant request will be considered for approval by our grant committee.
▪️Gelding Assistance & Grants
The Gelding Assistance / Grant program was created to help nonprofit organizations and private horse owners by providing financial assistance ($100 per horse) to help get their stallion gelded (castrated) with the goal of ultimately reducing the population of unwanted horses.
▪️Auction Rescue Grant
This grant helps nonprofit organizations by covering the direct cost of purchasing horses at slaughter auctions. The goal is to save as many horses out of the slaughter pipeline as possible, and help nonprofit organizations with the initial cost (up to $500 per horse) by covering the cost of purchasing the horses. The nonprofit can focus on raising funds for the rescued horses quarantine, medical needs and sheltering.
▪️Shelter Transfer Grants
Nonprofit organizations will receive a $250 grant per equine transferred from Horse Plus Humane Society to their organization. This grant helps horses rescued by Horse Plus Humane Society transition to other adoption agencies with financial assistance to help with their intake cost and sheltering.
▪️Last Act of Kindness Assistance & Grants
The Last Act of Kindness Assistance and Grant was created to help private horse owners and nonprofit organizations by providing financial assistance ($150 per horse) toward the Last Act of Kindness for their suffering horse.
▪️Full Circle of Life Grant & Mentoring
The Full Circle of Life Grant choosing happens once per year and is designed to help mentor and support another horse welfare organization that is willing to pilot a Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter for 6 months. Selected organizations will be showcased in the reality TV show, Horse Rescue Heroes.

The requirements for receiving any grant from us are simple and to the point.

A public Facebook post must be posted acknowledging Horse Plus Humane Society for the financial assistance for each horse. We have templates that can be followed if desired. The purpose of this posting is to bring continued awareness to the program, reaching others who could possibly benefit from it, so tagging and sharing appropriate information in the posts would be necessary.
Also required would be any invoices associated with the type of care/service given. For example, the gelding grant requires a copy of the invoice for the gelding procedure; the auction rescue grant requires a copy of the invoice from the auction barn.

We are thrilled to see the benefit this program is already bringing to horses in need this year. This safety net program, coupled with our passion to rescue, shelter, and protect horses, is changing lives not just in our home state of Tennessee, but across the nation. If your organization shares the same passion for helping horses, please consider applying to one (or some) of our options for financial assistance! We’d be excited to work with you in the effort to make this world a better place. For more information -

Thank you for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from you!
