Youāve probably seen this post a hundred timesā¦
But thatās because it mattersāespecially to your best friend.
Every Fourth of July, shelters are overwhelmed with panicked pets who bolted during fireworks. This isnāt just another holidayāitās loud, unpredictable, and completely unlike anything else we celebrate.
Take just a few minutes to make sure your pet is safe. It could save you a heartbreakāand take pressure off already overcrowded shelters.
š Secure your home. Double-check fences, gates, windows, and doorsāfear can turn any pet into an escape artist.
š·ļø Collar + ID = your petās ticket home. Even if you donāt have a tag, write your number directly on the collar with a Sharpie. Anything is better than nothing!
š” Microchipped? Make sure itās registered and up to date with your current information.
šļø Set up a comfort zone. Create a cozy indoor den with blankets, a fan, calming music, or white noise.
š« Donāt bring them to fireworks. Even confident dogs can panic in loud, unpredictable environments.
šø Snap a quick photo. If your pet does get loose, a clear, up-to-date pic can make a big difference.
ā¤ļø A few simple steps could be what keeps your best friend safeāand out of the shelter.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!
