CORA 🥰
Imagine being just two and a half years old and almost losing your life because someone decided you couldn't get along with other dogs.
**That was Cora's reality.**
Cora is a beautiful, approximately 2 1/2 year-old Dutch Shepherd mix who was scheduled to be euthanized because she supposedly didn't get along with other dogs in the home.
But thankfully, her story didn't end there. A wonderful veterinarian reached out to see if we could help, and Cora was given another chance. ❤️
Since arriving at our kennel, Cora has been showing us that there is so much more to her than the label she was given.
**Cora is learning to navigate being around other dogs.** She seems to enjoy her pack walks alongside male dogs and is becoming more comfortable in their presence. She has not initiated any play with them at this time, and that's perfectly okay! Right now, she's simply learning how to be around other dogs without feeling the need to interact.
**And that is progress worth celebrating!** ❤️
At our adoption events, Cora has also shown us another side of her personality. She absolutely LOVES the attention she receives from older children and adults! She enjoys the affection and being the center of attention.
And let's talk about what makes Cora happy!
🎾 **BALL IS LIFE!** This girl absolutely lives for someone to throw her a ball!
🥾 **Looking for a hiking partner?** Cora would be an excellent adventure buddy! She has plenty of energy and would thrive with someone who enjoys being active.
❤️ **She's lovable, energetic, and full of personality!** She has so much love and enthusiasm for life.
Cora will need an adopter who understands her energy, respects her boundaries with other dogs, and is willing to continue the progress she's making. For now, we feel she would be best suited as the only dog in the home.
**Here's what we wish more people understood.**
Not every dog is going to love other dogs. Not every dog wants to play with other dogs. And not every dog needs another dog in the home to live a happy, fulfilling life.
Cora was almost denied the opportunity to show the world who she really is.
Today, she's enjoying walks, soaking up attention, chasing balls, and slowly learning that being around other dogs doesn't have to be overwhelming.
Somewhere out there is someone who loves hiking, enjoys an energetic companion, doesn't mind throwing a ball a hundred times, and has room in their heart for a girl like Cora.
Please share Cora's story. Let's help this beautiful girl find the home and future she almost never had. ❤️
With an approved application you can meet this happy girl.
