Before and After ! This little one came to West Valley Shelter with a degloved (badly torn) lip. She was end of day for euthanasia. 😞Her luck turned around when clinic vet Dr. P was able to operate and repair her lip right at end of day instead! They named her Xena because she is a little warrior! 💕

This is “Herbie the Love Bug”, yes, the cat with the longest name Kitten Rescue has ever conferred. 🥰This young cat (about 5), is starting to enjoy a comfortable existence at Kitten Rescue after a tough go of it. Herbie looks like he might be a tough guy, but he is actually sweet and a bit shy.
Today he came out to walk around a bit, got overwhelmed by the other cats—and went right back to the safety of his enclosure.
Herbie is FIV positive which is not significant to his overall health and life span so long as he gets good care and nutrition. He’s had a full dental too, to maintain his good health and wellbeing. All Herbie needs now is a guardian who is patient and kind and will give him the love he deserves so much. 💕

Rhonda and her tail—are beautiful! 🥰Sweet Rhonda is still a kitten (about 6 months old), and she has seen a lot already in her short life. She and her siblings were part of a street rescue. Rhonda was at one of our cat lounges for a bit and is now at our Sanctuary. She loves to explore and play and loves other cats, so she needs another playful kitty at her forever home.

Here’s the scoop from Baxter’s Foster Mom: “Are you looking for the purr-fect companion? Meet Baxter, the coolest cat on the block! Baxter is sweet as can be, social, playful, silly and, as you can see, absolutely stunning! He can be a bit demanding, but that’s only for love and attention. He does insist on being an only cat! If he is going to have to share you with anyone, it can be a cat-friendly dog. 🐶
Next, if you are going to carry him, he insists on being carried like a baby. In return, you will get the most magical purrs and see a little smile on his face that tells you he is in absolute heaven. 😇
His morning chirping is the most adorable sound. He loves to play, and gets the cutest zoomies -but don’t worry, he will let you sleep in peace and will curl up somewhere cozy nearby!
Anyone that gets to call Baxter’s their own will be the absolute luckiest person in the world!”🍀
Friends, Baxter is a very special cat. Once adopted, he was returned because we did not know at the time how much he did NOT want a cat friend! And yet he patiently waits—he deserves the very best !

UPDATE!! Do you remember this summer four kittens were rescued after a bad car crash on the highway? 🙀The driver was badly injured and taken to the hospital, firefighters were on the scene and also helped rescue the kittens who were tiny and had been knocked around the bed of the truck.
Miraculously, the kittens survived and are THRIVING! 😻
Their foster mom brought them to Sunday clinic and we got to see how big and feisty they’ve gotten. Sound UP📣the foster’s descriptions are adorable for each.

This sweet boy is alive today because of the networking and excellent emergent care he received. This is Yamamoto’s story.

Yamamoto arrived at East Valley Shelter with a severe compound fracture—his bone was exposed, and his leg was twisted. He needed immediate care, or he would have been euthanized that day. 😞

Thanks to our amazing friends at Paw Center, we rushed him in, and while his leg couldn’t be saved, he came through amputation surgery and is now recovering comfortably at our Sanctuary. 💖

Yamamoto’s surgery cost $1,165, and we need your help to cover it. If you can, please consider making a donation to our Hope Fund to help him and other animals in critical need. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!

“I don’t like boys”! 😼 (Sound🆙 👆) Trudy, the belle of Perry’s Place (which co-parents with West Valley Spay/Neuter Clinic) is the cat famous for her major weight loss journey, still in progress. This sassy gal is sweet as honey with the female vet, tech and staff and with the women who work at Perry’s Place (where they have weekend custody).
Time to go back to the Clinic to see Dr. P? Trudy happily steps into the carrier for her journey when any female caretaker offers. So —WATCH WHAT HAPPENS when caretaker Eric tries to get her ready for the drive. 😂

Today at Perry’s Place —meet LUCKY TIGER! 🐯🍀This sweet girl was found by a Good Samaritan in south LA. She took the kitten to another rescue and was told they would just euthanize her. 😞
That wasn’t acceptable; she contacted Kitten Rescue and, thanks to there being space for another kitten at Perry’s Place, we said YES!

At about eight weeks old on arrival, Lucky Tiger weighed only 1.2 lbs., which is quite alarming. But with incubator support and much care and monitoring by the staff at Perrys Place, Lucky T is growing and getting stronger by the day. (second pic). 👏👏She now eats well on her own, is playful and active, uses the litter box, is gaining weight—and generally starting to be a kitten again. 🐱

Her eye infections are bad, and she will most likely need eye removal. But this kitten is a survivor and she will prevail ! Thank you everyone at Perry’s Place for taking such extraordinary care !

This is Wendy. She is a very dear and well loved cat at Kitten Rescue, but no one has shown interest in adopting her. 🙂‍↕️Wendy is an adult cat, about 11 years old. She is beautiful and regal and very sweet.
To be perfectly honest, her lack of prospects is likely due to her appearance—she has a puffy nose that is related to a long term health condition. Her condition is cryptococcus-a type of fungal infection that humans cannot get. She takes meds for it twice daily. Her puffy nose may or may not resolve over time.

Wendy has spent years at Kitten Rescue due to this condition, and she is a bit shy with new people. She is a gentle soul who does not like being around other cats or a lot of people and noise. We are so concerned she may have to live her entire life here if the right person does not come along. She really deserves so much more. 🙏🏼

A new born kitten was left on the sidewalk in front of Kitten Rescue in a shoe box, with umbilical cord still attached. 🐱🧡Fortunately, it was not too late—he was immediately started on bottle feeding every two hours, RTC, and his name is Mash Potato. 🥔
Can you believe it’s still kitten season in LA in late October! We can, but we still marvel. Things will soon quiet down and then late February, early March, suddenly someone will find a kitten —or a litter of kittens—and the season starts again.
“Mash” is an especially lucky one to be sure !
