Evelyn recently trapped the small colony of five cats living on her property. What makes her story so inspiring? Evelyn uses a wheelchair, and she didn't let that stop her from saving lives.

After Evelyn successfully trapped the cats, her neighbors stepped in to help bring the traps inside overnight. The next morning, our Community Cat Coordinator picked up the cats and transported them to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. It truly took a community working together to make a difference.

So often, we hear from people who want to help community cats but don't think they can trap them. Evelyn proved that with determination, compassion, and a little help from those around her, it can be done.

Her actions matter because we're in the middle of a cat overpopulation crisis. There simply aren't enough homes for all the kittens being born. Every day, kittens suffer on the streets or enter overcrowded city shelters, where many are euthanized simply because there isn't enough space.

This is what Cat Days of Summer is all about—not only rescuing kittens already in need, but preventing future litters through Trap-Neuter-Return.

By trapping and sterilizing this mama cat and her kittens, Evelyn has helped stop the cycle before it continues.

So many of the kittens we rescue in the summer time have serious medical issues that demand immediate medical attention. Like OJ, 🧡a single, two month old kitten with a pr*****ed, necrotic eye. We don’t know if it was an event or infection that caused it but we knew it had to be removed asap!
The amazing Dr. P from West Valley Animal Shelter performed the eye removal —and what a beautiful job she did! OJ is now healed and his other eye works just fine. 👏👏

Tiny Euclid was found alone in the middle of a busy intersection. Thanks to two brave Good Samaritans, she was rescued just in time.

When she arrived at Kitten Rescue, we discovered she had severe injuries to both hips. Euclid underwent two major surgeries, and through it all, this little fighter never gave up. Today, she's on the road to a pain-free future.

But Euclid's story isn't unique. During the Cat Days of Summer, abandoned, orphaned, injured, and sick kittens arrive every day, and our Sanctuaries, foster homes, and medical resources are stretched to the limit.

So far this year, we've already rescued 1,285 cats and kittens, and we must raise $100,000 to continue providing lifesaving care through the busiest months of kitten season.

A big thank you to our caretaker, Rebecca, who arranged a visit from the community connection team from Whole Foods Silver Lake yesterday! 💚💚The team was amazing! They did everything from cat socializing to major cleaning, a few even donned the PPE and went to our ringworm ISO ward for cleaning. Our cats LOVED the added attention. 😻
The work this team did was so beneficial to us, especially during this busy kitten season where we are at full capacity!

Sweet Arnold is currently recovering from Cryptococcosis, the most common systemic fungal infection in cats. Caused by inhalation of Cryptococcus spores, It primarily affects the nasal cavity as is true for Arnold. 🤥
With the proper medical treatment, the nose smelling resolves slowly over time.
Meanwhile, Arnold is a lover boy. He is especially bonded to Perry’s Place manager Eric and particularly enjoys nestling against his beard. 🥰Eric is good sport !
Arnold, we have a young lady you might like to meet, her name is Wendy. (last two pics). Wendy was adopted earlier this year and your time will come soon we just know it, Arnold !

Thank you for these adorable cat beds! Our cats are enjoying them ALMOST as much as they enjoy the yummy food and treats. And Blair has increased her biscuit making capacity since she got her bed!

It was a party today 🧶🎉😻🎈🎊at Perry’s Place in Jackie’s Room—Room 8, AKA Apollo’s new room! Lori stopped by and took photos (while wielding the cat wand and other party games). Apollo (ginger boy) was chill, playful and at ease. 🧡
Of course, what’s a party without cat nip right? 😸The cat nip ball came out and a whole new round of fun was had. 🪩🧑‍🩰
👉Note—Apollo LOVED the feather wand, but due to his pica eating disorder. (ingests non edible materials to his detriment)—that wand was OUT of the room as soon as play time ended.

🎾 Kitten Wimbledon 2026 got off to a thrilling start as Sugar faced Spice in a fiercely contested opening-round match. Spectacular volleys, lightning-fast reflexes... and then, an unexpected interruption from an overenthusiastic courtside spectator. 😹
Seems one of the spectators got a bit TOO excited and started “pawing” Spice! 🙀🙀Officials reviewed the play and ruled it "bystander interference." No kittens were penalized, although one spectator has been warned about future courtside conduct. We expect—it will happen again! 🎾🐾
