Tucked right along the LA River, this shaded path is lined with native California plants and chaparral, and you’ll even pass some beautiful metal art installations along the way (keep an eye out for the heron sculpture!).

With heat advisories on the way this summer, this trail is a smart pick — it’s shaded early and stays cool longer than most spots in the area. Leashes are required, but the path is wide and mellow, perfect for a relaxed group walk.

Get there early, beat the heat, and let your dog enjoy some real nature. 🌿🐕

For over a decade, Jackie and her nest atop Big Bear Lake brought millions of strangers together through a single livestream — watching, hoping, and caring for a wild creature none of them could touch. She never set out to be an influencer, but through her quiet strength and her devotion to her partner Shadow and their chicks, she reminded us all why nature is worth protecting.

Jackie didn't just capture attention — she built community. She turned viewers into advocates, and curiosity into conservation.

Our warmest sympathy goes out to everyone who watched her story unfold, and to all who cared for her till the end.

Marty, the scraggly little white dog, decided to get away for the weekend and join us. Max and Hazel are here for daycare today.

With this hot, humid weather, even the kids voted for an afternoon movie matinee in the A/C. 🍿❄️

Remember this claim against grain-free diets for dogs?

“In February 2024, Keto Natural Pet Food – a small, independently owned manufacturer of grain-free pet foods – filed a lawsuit against Hill’s Pet Food claiming that Hill’s and partner veterinarians fabricated a connection between grain-free and small brand pet foods to DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) in dogs.”

Should be interesting to see how this plays ou.

Bailey enjoying yesterday’s hike… before Mother Nature cranks up the thermostat for the rest of the week. 🥵
We’ll be sticking to shady park adventures, plenty of water breaks, and lots of grass under our paws. Safety always comes first. 💦🐾

People always ask why I take so many pictures of the dogs’ butts. 🍑😂

Well… I like big butts and I cannot lie. 🎶

Just kidding.

The real reason is safety. I always keep the pack in front of me. If they’re behind me, they’re free to stop, sniff, wander, or investigate something I can’t see. Up ahead, I can spot potential hazards first—wildlife, other dogs, cyclists, rattlesnakes, foxtails, or anything else that could get them into trouble.

Their view is the adventure. My view is making sure they all get home safely. ❤️🐾
