To Our Valued Clients,
Please take the time to read this thoroughly to avoid any confusion.
The ongoing shortage of large animal veterinarians remains a significant crisis. Our priority is to continue providing quality care while also supporting our veterinarians' well-being and longevity in this career field.

To address this crisis, we are implementing new emergency protocols, effective April 1:

Large Animal Emergency services will be available only to active clients from 8 AM to 9 PM.

After 9 PM, both clients and non-clients will have the option of a phone consultation with a veterinarian through VetTriage or trailering to Brandon Equine, which remains open for emergency care.

We strongly encourage trailering animals to our facilities or the on-call veterinarian whenever possible. This improves efficiency, allows us to treat more patients, and reduces travel time across our large service area. Now is the time to ensure your trailers are in working order, explore purchasing options, or establish a plan with someone who can assist with transport if needed. Additionally, we recommend keeping essential medications like Bute and Banamine on hand in case of emergency.

For those without access to a trailer, our hospital maintains an ongoing list of trailering services and rental options, available upon request.

Please adjust feeding schedules as necessary and do not wait to call if your animal seems unwell—early communication is key.

Help us help you as we navigate the current crisis in large animal medicine.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 239-694-7177.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work together to sustain large animal veterinary care.
We look forward to seeing you and your animals!

Best regards,
Van Roekel & Associates Team
