Sheep Gate Farm

Sheep Gate Farm Sheep Gate Farm is a hobby farm that focuses on raising registered Mini Nubians, a mid size dairy goat, in a natural setting. As of 2020 this is a closed herd.

I breed for correct conformation, tight capacious udders and high milk production. At Sheep Gate Farm, I breed registered Mini Nubians for milk production, good temperaments, and good conformation. I have been breeding Mini Nubians since 2011. Sheep Gate herd is a disease free herd. Kids are dam raised and handled daily. Kids are ready to leave for their new homes after 10 to 12 weeks old. Mini Nu

bians are not only intelligent and friendly but also produce delicious and digestible immune boosting milk that can be made into yogurt, cheese, ice cream, soap, lotion and much more. If you want to stay close to your food source the Mini Nubian Dairy Goat is a delightful addition to any hobby farm, suburban backyard or small homestead. Goats are herd animals and do not do well alone. If you do not already have another goat, consider purchasing two. I will not sell a goat that will be housed alone, that includes bucklings. Goats require adequate shelter and have specific nutritional requirements. If you are new to goats, I will be happy to answer any questions or point you to basic information about the requirements it takes to own a goat. If you are interested in purchasing a Mini Nubian feel free to pm me and we can discuss your needs.

At the beginning of each new year, we take time to reflect on a past year that was filled with beautiful memories. Farm life is rarely without its challenges, but it’s taught us to be thankful for all the good things that have come our way.

Nothing we do would ever be possible without our cherished, supportive, and simply wonderful friends, family, fellow breeders, and buyers. You make all the difficult and exhausting times worth it. We wish you and your herd a year filled with good health, happiness, and success. Thank you for being a part of our 2023 story.

In 2024 we’re manifesting a year that’s full of peace, reaching goals we’ve set for our herd, and trying to find more of a life/farm balance. We look forward to goat shows, the best of friends, and great times ahead!

✨ HAPPY NEW YEAR! ✨

Does your livestock match your pasture?

Cattle, sheep and goats use pastures differently.
- Terrain: Goats and sheep tend to use steeper areas than cattle.
- Plant Types: Cattle eat mainly grasses while goats browse more shrubs and trees. Sheep are intermediate and have less preference for a specific plant type.
- Selection for Plant Parts: Cattle have large broad mouths and cannot select specific plant parts well, instead they typically take large bites of plants. Sheep and goats have small mouths with prehensile lips which allow them to select specific plant parts

Grazing multiple species can often be complementary, resulting in broader use of available plant types and pasture terrain.
