Dog Friends of Belmont Lake State Park

Dog Friends of Belmont Lake State Park For many years, Belmont Lake State Park has been a dog-friendly park, allowing visitors to walk their dogs in designated areas within the facility.

Now, we are looking to expand that and create a dog run! But we can't do it without your help!

A lot of work went into building our dog run. From finding the right spot, to laying fencing, and so much more, this is what building a dog run looks like.

We're very proud of what we have here - and although it may not necessarily look like much, and cannot compare to some other dog runs, a lot of time and thought went into this project and like most things in life: it is a work-in-progress.

We are very happy that we are able to bring this service to our park visitors, as we are the only State Park on Long Island to do so.

Dogs are welcome on-leash in our park (on trails only), but now you can let your dog(s) off-leash in a safe space.

Enjoy!

We’re opening our dog run tomorrow!

If you donated in a pet’s memory, we are trying to decide on a layout for plaques. We don’t want you to think we forgot about your donation.

We really hope you enjoy the new dog run.

Pictures of the building process coming soon.

Dogs become family members,
their barks and tail wags communicate
a love like no other,
a love everlasting.

We show our affections,
with kisses and pets,
and long walks in the park.

Looking to memorialize a lost pet, but don't know how? Here's an example of one way to do so. For $50.00, not only will you memorialize your pet with this beautiful paw-shaped plaque, but you will help contribute to our dog run coming very soon.

This plaque is the first one purchased; her name was Chloe and she was a beautiful, smart and vivacious Husky/German Shephard mix, taken way too soon. Her Mom and Dad called her "Chloe Monster", but she was also known as just "Chloe". She was a rescue, but truth be told, she rescued her Mom and Dad, who loved her so much.

Pets are with us for a short time, but they leave an everlasting impression on our lives.

A Gift in your dog’s memory

Do you have memories of carefree, playful days spent walking at Belmont Lake State Park with your gone, but never forgotten dog? Do you want a way to keep the memory of them living on for years to come?

At Belmont Lake State Park, we have a few unique options for dog memorialization to choose from. Each donation will help fund the construction of a 100-foot by 100-foot enclosed dog run, a place where dogs are permitted to safely play off-leash in our park.

Each time the dog run at Belmont Lake State Park is used, you will be contributing to someone’s enjoyment of spending precious, fleeting time with their beloved dog.

A dog park memorial bench donor will have their bench placed within the newly created dog run, in a pre-determined location. All other $50.00 or more donations will be acknowledged with a special plaque or brick and placed in the immediate vicinity of the dog run.

All proceeds will be used to help fund the purchase of dog fountains, benches, dog waste stations, fence and any future updates or repairs to Belmont Lake State Park’s dog run, while at the same time, helping to ensure that your memorialized item is cared for by park staff for at least 20 years.

Working alongside the park staff, you can be sure that your pet’s memory will be cherished and that all donations will be handled with care.
